Report a translation problem
Just make a seperate save beforehand only save outside a mission and be sure nobody is using any of the modded items. Then disable the mod in the launcher and load up one of your two saves and see if everything is fine. If you can play as normal good if not and the save becomes corrupt, well then you can re-enable the mod and use the other save you made, that way at least you won't have to start all over again.
so yeah, he's probably right, the saves probably wouldn't be loadable. but that was XCOM1, and official DLC.
In XCOM 2 originally you couldn't load saves either if you removed something, it was changed at one point; still a bad idea though.
