I can confirm this works, wasted a whole day reinstalling the game and mods until I found this. Cheers m8
This worked for me as well! Thanks a ton, mate! :D
1. go into workshop and favorite all your subscribed mods.
2. Now unsubscibe them.
3. Open the new launcher, and click on the manage mods button.
4. There is a link to the steam workshop in there. Click it, and subscribe to the mods that you have just made favorites previously.
5. Alt tab to the launcher, and hit the refresh button. Your mods will show up then toggle the enable mods.
5. Kill some freaking Aliens!!
LOL god no. I'll just wait until they fix it and play something else and suggest others not buy their games until they have resolved it.
My main issue with this is that all of my mods are already listed in the new launcher. I have them all enabled. I am launching WotC. It does not launch with the mods running. I might try this, but don't see how this will fix anything they broke tbh.
Smokalotapotamus is right, though. This is something Firaxis needs to find and fix ASAP. Or just roll it back, unless that would do even more harm at this point.
How about this : 1. Do not update the game with ads and break previous functionality
Btw i managed to make it work by running the dev launcher thing in the binary directory, closing it and using the new stupid launcher again. Did not have to change subscriptions. Game seems wonkier than i remember (although it might be the mods, it was already having a hard time before) but it works
Where/when did they say this?
Yep.
Or maybe "if you want it done right, do it yourself?"
C:\Users\(profile name)\Documents\my games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config
I have to delete all the files in this folder and then launch XCOM2, which is slower since it has to rebuild the Config files that were just deleted.
Then go to the OPTIONS and fix my performance settings (can now only run on VIDEO > Frame Rate Smoothing = "X" and GRAPHICS > Preset = "Low") else it runs too slow to be playable.
And now I can load and play the game with the Mods working.
