Same thing for healing, it goes for someone else than the one I am actually targeting. The targeted person/alien is outlined in red and I see the percentage chance and all that. But when I launch the attack (or the healing), it goes to a different target.
I have mods installed so thought it was them, but maybe it's the update? My mods are mostly Mass Effect character skins and voice packs. But I do have all the Long War Studios mods as well.
I tried deleting the config folder and having it completely reinstall itself, but that didn't fix it. Maybe I'll start a sample game with ALL mods shut off and see if that fixes it. Argh, what a pain.
This bug is a pain in the butt, however, if you click on the head you want BEFORE you go into targeting mode (close up mode) then it will hit the one you want even though it will snap your view to something you're not aiming at. This does not work for other abilities though, only for primary weapon fire. Here is another workaround i've found works for abilities:
If you are in targeting mode, first tab through to the one you want, then click the head highlighted by the red box, it will change your selection and highlight a new head with the red box. Next, click on the newly highlighted head, it will change your view/selection one more time but it will hit the original target you tabbed to in the first place. Hope this helps for now...would still prefer a patch :/
Note: If you are in targeting mode and click on a highlighted head and it does not change your view/selection it will most likely hit the target your are trying to hit. I am not 100% on this one but it seems to be the case.
Thank you for this great hint! I'm going to try it now. What I think I understand from this is that I should click on the head I want to hit, not tab between them. I should ignore what the crosshairs are landing on, and just click the head I want and then fire? I'll give it a go.
UPDATE: Ya, this worked for me. When I start tabbing between the heads in the little row at the bottom and it's not aligning up correctly, I use ESC to leave that. Once the cross hairs are turned back off again, I click on the head in the row of heads that I want to target. Then I shoot it. Even though the camera does not center on the alien I'm trying to shoot, it will hit the one I clicked on, not the one the camera and cross hairs goes to.
Thank you, @thekeyboardkid !
I cant deal with this crazy bug. Cant even get a Gremlin. go to the correct soldier.
It seems everytime I have a few days off to enjoy gaming. Someone puts out a patch to bork the game I have an itch to play.
This works for single or double enemies for me, but if it's like five or six, it won't let me select the first two or three heads, and it'll only let me select the latter half of the visible enemies. So darn annoying!!! Why Firaxis, WHY?!
