Best Way to Refresh INI?
I am having some minor hiccups in my game and want to refresh my ini files as a firststep. I have found different methods reccomended from deleting all the ini files in the C:\Users\**********\Documents\My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\Config folder to just deleting the gameengine.ini and modoptions.ini. I am using the alternate Mod Launcher and would like to know if the is a prefered method of doing the refresh.

No need to go inside, just delete the whole config folder (saves a few clicks). It will get remade with no problems. Don't delete more than that though as might accidently lose your save games or worse, your character pool. :p

Well, if you have the patience or knowledge, I guess you can make a batch file that deletes the files with just a single click.

Will that method work with the Alternate Mod Launcher or do I have to start the game once with the vanilla launcher to remake the config folder?

I don't see why it would not work with the alt mod launcher. Don't take my word for it though since I never really managed to get the alt mod launcher to work for me. :steamfacepalm:

What I do:

Delete vanilla game INIs from:
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\Config

Launch game using Firaxis' Launcher (select no mods)

Configure graphics options, key bindings

Exit

Launch game using Alternate Mod Launcher (with mods)
------------
That's cleared out any gubbins in the Config folder and I find my key bindings etc. persist.

Trying to launch AML with an empty Config folder causes an error (or used to)

That is also what I had to do.

Lol, I ran into some serious hiccups in my LW2 campaign, but didn't know how to fix em. Ended up removing some mods then restarting the campaign. Kinda wished I saw this before then...
