However, from my experiences in WotC, poison does 1 damage to units per turn (friendly or otherwise) regardless of source EXCEPT when they get critically hit from said source, (e.g. Gas Grenades/Bombs with the "Biggest Booms" GTS perk for Grenadiers) then they would take 3 damage per turn.
I have never gotten someone "pass on" poison to another soldier. It might be a glitch as there were rare cases of me positioning a soldier near a poison cloud but clearly out of range visually yet still getting poisoned or times where the cloud seemed to have subsided yet passing through that area still got my soldiers poisoned.
