XCOM 2
Chosen attacks avenger
Chosen can attack avenger soon. How different is that attack from usual attack on avenger? Will I need to destroy the transmission tower? And/or kill chosen?
I am building defence matrix.
Theoretically I can try to execute last phase of search citadel operation and attack the chosen in its citadel but I am not sure it is a good idea as I have just tier 2 weapon/armor and only a single major. Building for improving bond level is not built yet. L/i if it matters.

It's a similar mission to the regular avenger defense mission. Instead of needing to prevent the enemies from reaching the ramp, you need to destroy several objectives before they break the avenger. There's several vans with machineguns that deal a little damage each turn and a giant cannon that deals tons of damage every few turns. Unlike regular avenger defense, you don't extract from the mission, and there aren't any reinforcements, so it ends when you kill everything, and you get the bodies for doing so.

Also building defense matrix before training facility is a terrible idea.

I see, thank you.

Delay of training center is not a big deal, I am surprised how easy the game is with 3 mimic beacons and 3 mind shields. I was scared by the attack a lot so I went the safest way. I was going to build defense matrix earlier but only last mission gave me turret wrecks so it will be my 7th facility.

Bonds add options in fights (and speed up covert missions) and the additional abilities are invaluable (not even just the random bonus abilities, but the ability to get both of the abilities normally available from a promotion instead of only 1). It's absolutely worth getting that early, and certainly more valuable than the bottom-tier defense matrix.

Yes, I agree that they are useful but I really needed GTS, RR, Laboratory, energy and then avatar project forced me to build proving ground and shadow chamber because the countdown started twice. Last building was hospital (many phobias including my reaper with phobia of chosen, also lots of wounded soldiers) and I have just started building defense matrix (with engineer and even scanning skirmishers base for quicker building).

I cannot even improve my relations with templars because I am constantly decreasing avatar project or increasing contacts to reach yet another region with alien facility or spying to get allien facility data. It is a crazy race at this point where tactically the game is very easy but I almost lost strategically.

Which would be improved by decreasing covert ops times with bonding.

Yes, I know. Still the difference is not significant (something like 9 days vs 10) and I didn't have any choice after building Laboratory. I still think I will win but it is a close call for sure. I will avoid Lab next time.

Currently I have 7 pairs of bonded soldiers (all are ready to upgrade it) so it is easy to guess my next building :)

UFO shot avenger down when 3 days were remaining for defense matrix. 3 dead soldiers, 4 wounded :( Defense matrix is more important than training center IMHO :(

Also unfortunately my next facility is not training center. I got 3rd countdown and expect another one soon so I need resistance comms to reach all regions. Tactically it is no longer easy either, andromedons are not fun with tier 2 weapons.

Also the nerf to rapid fire makes my Vanilla tactic not work in WotC (kill with rapid fire from a Ranger parked next to them(probably with an initial softening up from someone else unless they got shredder from the AWC), their robotic form will then swing and miss (due to untouchable), then rapidfire again next to turn finish them off..

I am really disappointed, chosen's attack on avenger is so weak comparing to normal attack on avenger. Just a single wounded soldier and avenger lost only 100 HP out of 400.
In next mission I attacked facility with my weakest soldiers and let another chosen get knowlegde, it is superior to risk of losing soldiers as I see.
