SunDrippedDevil I had those problems without mods, so that wasnt the issue.
Dante I was taking the exact same measures on WotC now. Disabling Cloud Saving and reducing resolution did in fact improve things. However, it did not resolve the issue completely. On WotC especially the last mission started crashing so much it was not to be finished. Incidently I could finish the mission after a reinstall of the game and using the previous save.
Its with the 2,4 GHz i5, 8 gigs of RAM. I know, not optimal for this game!
If so, you might want to bring the graphics settings down as low and possible and try that way. That could cause your issues besides a bad installation (I have assumed that have tried verifying your game files. If not then try that) Also, WotC drastically improves performance and loading times. It could lead to better performance (or could not).
Another thing that you should note about XCOM 2 (especially vanilla) is that it is a vicious memory hog (especially when using mods) as time passes during a play session. It might help to free up your ram during extended play sessions. I use CleanMyMac purely for this function (otherwise it's not a very useful piece of sotware).
If you do not want to purchase CleanMyMac you can manually free up your ram from the terminal. It isn't as difficult or scary as it sounds. Open terminal and type:
sudo purge
You will be asked to input your computer password. Go ahead. The system will then free up inactive RAM that the game swallows up and should stabilize performance. Note that your computer will be unresponsive for a few moments while this is happening. It is perfectly fine to do this while simply alt+tabbing out of the game. Next close terminal and resume play.
These are the only actions that you can take tp resolve this issue, besides purchasing a machine that meets the recommended requirements better.
I had the integrity of the game data verified, no issues there.
Your point with the memory could be an issue. I have no probs using the terminal, do you sudo purge the memory during the gaming session or before firing up the game?
WotC does in fact improve the performance, with the exception of starting up the game. Loading the game into main menu takes literally five minutes. After that its fairly fast with all loads.
Hope it resolves your issues.
Also tweaking the ini file to remove some visual effect like god rays etc.
Have all the graphic settings on low.
Without the expansion, this game doesn't perform well on intel-based apple machines.
