2. Check out all the threads on Steam about how to do Classic difficulty. They have really good advice that applies on every difficulty.
3. Remember dieing and losing is part of the game. It really makes those successes worth it. A few missions here and there wont cost you a campaign.
That way if things go south you've got a fallback position while learning the game.
Redoing missions when new monster shows up allows you to try different tactics in a known environment.
As long as you've got soldiers who can fight, even a failed mission isn't bad as you soldiers stain gain XP and research continues.
Stick with and have fun. Whilst it can be tense at times, it's all worthwhile when you break through.
I have nothing agains people who savescum but i would recomend to atleast try to break the habit as some one else mentiones it holds you back from learning.
If you do a mistake and just reload 1 min back, you will probably not feel the mistake as bad as it actually is meaning you probably learn almost nothing from it.
Imagine if you spent 3 hours into a campain and then comes a new enemy that just whipe the team, then it will feel as a big mistake and next time you will remember it and do everything to prepare for it just to not lose again.
OP, I really recommend you "Yet another F1" mod as it allows you to see monster abilities so you will be less surprised by every new monster.
For me it never felt bad to restart cause it wasnt really that much about pregression for me. It was more about getting good in missions and understanding the dynamics. Never bothered me to restart when I failed. And after I tried out ironman once I was hooked anyway and couldnt go back. I need the excitement to risk game over all the time with every choice I make. Otherwise its just too boring and I loose interest and ont play anymore.
