XCOM 2

what were the chosen warninmg us about?
so replaying the game ive noticed that the chosen talk about how the elders are going to protect humanity from a powerful force that will wipe out all life forms. but i havent seen anything else about it. is this just something they say to get Xcom to join them or is this a firaxis hint at something else?

You'll also notice the Elders themselves talking about a "greater threat", I find it unlikely they were lieing, and if the ending a symbol of anything, Firaxis deifintely has a plan for something in the future.

while the bad guy's have reason to lie during the templar ending the templar confirm 'that with the elder's silenced the voice is stronger than ever'

so there is some psionic threat hereto undisclosed and confirmed by independant sources.

possibly an xcom 3 and terror from the deep.

The Ethereals. Elders are only puppets. Tygan is responsible for this, he created a device who can kill an Ethereal and in return mankind must die. The bureau: xcom declassified tells the presequel of xcom. The commander in The Bureau: xcom declassified is chosen by an Ethereal to be the Elder of humanity but instead them created a device who is a threat to every Ethereal and in return The Commander was given the ultimatum to either blow up the planet with an Elerium generator or submit to the Ethereal and become an elder. In either choice the humanity was doomed to die and xcom2 takes place in another timeline because neither did The bureau or xcom:Enemy unknown took place in the timeline of xcom2.

Something from the sea as hinted at the ending and from most enemies that can talk... and Templars too...

You know, due to the insane number of references from both Chosen, even the Templars who are XCOM friends and the Elders. I was somewhat suprised that aside from one single line in the whole game i cannot remeber anyone from Avenger reacting to that.

Also why Templars are withholding information from XCOM is another puzzle

Honest Geist: "Commander, now that Advent is in ruins, lets us focus on a enemy that was haunting Elders in their nightmares"

Central:" You got to be kidding me, if Elders and their advanced technology couldnt stand against them.... how... why.."

Tygan:" Better late than never"

Shen:" We are ♥♥♥♥♥♥"

If something in the galaxy scares Advent and elders so much.... how can a SINGLE planet stand against them ?!

And Advent isnt even destroyed tbh, they are facing a massive revolt at their hands but they still have an army and a command structure (Generals) albeit weakened. Those who remain will surely try to fulfil their leader's former visions and still save what they can.

So i wouldnt be suprised if in XCOM 3 you would have to team up with the Advent and resistance to face the new threat. Having vipers, mutons, chrysalids and other aliens in your squad while you face the new enemy...

Advent still has the logistics to stabilize regions and provide supplies for populations so i wouldnt be suprised if it really happened and XCOM and res would be temporary allies to stop the new threat. Like some missions would be defending Advent factories, escorting a general through a place and so on... the exact oposite what you were doing the whole time.

I kinda thought they were hinting at what Disney would do the the Star Wars franchise. Or perhaps it was a spoiler for Pacific Rim.

Needless to say, we'll have to wait and see what is in store for us all.

I don't think weakened is enough to describe it, Bradford states in the final mission that, Advent soldiers are laying down their arms or firing at eachother. It seems a large prtion of the Advent army was being help together through the psionic network, when it was destroyed, the soldiers were free from control, they were never paid or would of been given any benefits, they had zero reason to be fighting for the Advent administration.

Couple that with the massive uprising of humanity, which could easily be a couple hundred thousand to millions deserting for fighting in a massive uprising, you hear at the from the liberation network presenter that "ADVENT is in retreat in all areas", while they may show up in the third instalment, but I highly doubt they would be effective.

i could see them being some sort of EXALT organization fighting against XCOM but this time not not fighting for the aliens. just fighting because they dont like XCOM or anybody.
I think they were warning us about aliens.

I got the same vibe. I think this massive plan by the Elders have 2 plays. 1) Is our DNA strand in order to provide the elders with a cure for them dying out. 2)Is there is a much bigger enemy, and the commander was an intricate piece of the puzzle to face this other race.
In Xcom 3, Advent and Elders will come out as not evil or conquerers, but a race obseesed with survival and defending the Universe how they see fit, even it meant the subjucation of all Alien species, even including us, in their master plan.

I'm more than willing to lead a few Gate Keepers into battle.

You need to remember that the Eldar are terrible at long term plans:
- XCOM EU/EW had them constantly doing things to anger XCOM. Then, in the final mission, they are pleased that the "new one" has appeared and dismayed that the "new one" wants to kill them.
- XCOM 2. First they slaughtered humanity. They capture the Commander. They leave the Commander in a lightly guarded facility. When the Commander is rescued, they spend the campaign doing things to anger XCOM.
They never explain the threat. They never offer proof. They see that humanity might be useful, so they kill large swathes of the population.

I wouldn't be surprised if the threat isn't as big as they are making it out to be.

Neanderthans more like.

We thought we got rid of them millenia ago... we were wrong.

Kaiju time. NeXtCOM will be turn based mecha vs monster.

Joking but I woulder if that would actually work out... Psionics to connect the pilot with the mech like some Pacific Rim knockoff. I'd be cool with it.

Yeah as @red said they actually hinted at this during the ending of EU as well.

I've got more of a Apocolypse vibe from the overall thing. I know it shows under water but we now have Hybrids, androids, advanced technology and the mega cities.

------

For me I feel I wouldn't be surprised if it was the Ethereals who ascended who are now coming to clean up the mess those left behind have made. Kill of the tinkering they did and the last survivors.

Consider the following:
- Dr. Vahlen had access to a quality of equipment and staff that seems unusual for someone working on their own.
- She didn't die when her test subjects escaped. Well, her body was not found.
- The room where the Eldar gathered the chosen to talk to/threaten them had four spaces around the pillar.

Maybe the Chosen Scientist doesn't intend to be a threat to humanity. She just thinks that going too far in her experiments isn't going far enough.

You haven't considered that the commander in xcom2 is an ethereal because you know, he doesn't have a body.
