Total Disk Space requirement (before and after installation)
I know that the disk space needed to install the base game is 45 GB. I've also read that all the DLC along with WotC cranks that 45 GB to 70 GB. But what about the disk space required after installation? How much is required then?

I use my D: Drive (HDD) for gaming. Unfortunately it only has ~50 GB free right now and there nothing on it that I would want to uninstall. I also really want to play this game, so I'm thinking I'll install in on my C: Drive (SSD) on which I have ~150 GB free. Will that be enough to both install and play the game?

After installation the game is around 76GB now. With all the DLCs I mean.

+6 GB isn't so bad. It's the amount of free disk space needed after installation that worries me. Some games demand quite a bit.

Actually just read a reddit post that said there is an addition requirement of 30.8 GB afterwards. Is this true? Some confirmation would be nice.

You need extra space during/prior to install, otherwise it will just download it, fail to install, download it again, ad infinitum.

What reddit post? I've installed the game just fine with around 85-90GB of free space before download.

If 90 GB worked, then 150 should be more than enough. Thanks for the info guys.

That post is too old, it's like 5 days after the release of the game. 30.8GB was the size of the game back then, without any DLC and patches.

I am somewhat confused by what I am reading (in the above posts).

The game installs to "<steam>\SteamApps\Common\XCOM 2"; note that your local steam library (<steam>) may be installed on just about any drive, and you may have more than one of said local steam libraries on your computer (and each of these might be on a different drive). This is where you need to have the Required Disk Space - for installation.

While playing the game, User Dependant Information (i.e. save game info) is located at either "<documents>\My Games\XCOM2" or "<documents>\My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen"; <documents> being where-ever Windows wants to put it! This is where any additional (play time?) Disk Space is obtained.

Then, again, Microsoft Windows DIsk Management management-console totally rewrites the rules for those willing to learn how to implement mounting of "logical volumes" on empty folders using external USB Drives (such as WD's My Passport drives). Personally, I like to mount 2-Tera-byte logical volumes, on my local steam library folder(s) (<steam>); and somewhat smaller logical volumes on "XCOM2" and "XCOM2 War of the Chosen" folders.

Mounting is ghosting, you make the system believe that it has a specific volume but I don't really see the need of this unless you use mechanic drives. Usb and memory based drives don't need to be smaller or larger than the capacity of the memory. Pagefile can store a lot of data if the blocks of data is too large to fit into the memory card. One issue xcom2 has is that it doesn't dump the memory of old data that the game can crash when reached the limits of the engine who is UE3 and works in 32bit.
