Field Medic or Scanning Protocol?
I misread it. I thought it meant 2 Medical Protocol heals with the Gremlin (without medkit equipped) so Im still debating if I should use medic or not. I went with Scanning Protocol because I thought I could use it more than once on mission thank god I saved it when she got promoted. I might still go with Scanning Protocol.

What did you pick?

Field medic is better, you can use battlescanner if you really need scanning.

I always d medic on the first person and scanning on the second person. Scanning protocol can really come in handy.

Really depends on your play style.
Scanning protocol = no BS surprises = no wounds from those surprises that never happened.

Like someone already said depends on your playstyle but i usually have to medics out on the field anyways so you can have a medic for each purpose

field medic

I personally prefer field medic. I can have field scanners through items which is also really cheap.

I prefer scanning protocol early on since it pretty much eliminates the assassin.

She spawns I wait a turn the use it. Bang wipe her off the map. Very rarely does she reach me first turn and take someone out.

Once she is dealt with field medic all the way.

Battlescanners can serve the same purpose.

I use the Reaper for my scouting, so field medic. After the training center I can alway add scanning

This would be the one reaons to take Scanning Protocol early, in my opinion. If you're playing WOTC and you have the Assassin active in your starting part of the world, then being able to scan for her could save you a lot of wounds, before you can get the battle scanners. Otherwise, you need to get lucky and stumble into a flank... or wait for her to reveal herself, at which point someone is already bleeding.

For basic scouting, yeah, Reapers or even Rangers with Phantom tend to be more reliable, once you figure out how to keep them from being spotted .... and learning how to use them is great practice for the rescue missions.

It takes about 3-4 times longer to get scanning protocol than battle scanners though. If you want it early, then you only have one option, and it's not scanning protocol.

Medic. Even if you dont use them its better to have the chance to bring home all of soldiers.

While I'm sure that's true, there always seem to be more pressing research options in the early game.... though, I'm only wrapping up my first WOTC campaign, now, so I'm certainly no expert on things like that that were all but uselss in the base game (at least in comparison to the things you'd have to give up to make use of them).

Dunno, it is like 2 days of research.

Bumping Up this tread to give My two cents. In Earlier games medkits was awesome since if you heal up you come out unharmed. Now, meh. Wounded players are still wounded if healed so I dont really see the point. Just don't let them get hurt again and die.
Scanning protocol does not take Up an inventory slot so you can bring something else that also keep your troops safe and even if it is not great can be epic in certain situations.

I do both. I train double the amount of specialists than other classes, because specialist is really the only class where I train guys on both sides of the tree. The other classes all get the same skills, but I have some specialists built as combat specialists and they get all the anti-robot and stuff on the right side of the tree (except Covering Fire, I take that for everyone). The other half of specialists, I train as medic and they get everything on the left side, except for Guardian, which all my specialists get.

Yes, I know this is an old thread, but it is still relevant.
