Multiplayer achievement

So, while I've been playing other games and XCOM WotC over the months, it seems multiplayer died?

I've not tried it but I'd like to attempt to get 100% achievements in this, so it requires me to win a battle.

If anyone is interested in a skirmish or two online, please let me know!

How can you help, I cannot see how to start a multiplayer game in X-Com 2, with or without WotC.

you need to switch to the beta version for multiplayer:
in your library, right-click XCOM, select properties, betas and switch to the pre-21.10-support - support branch.

How do you still get this achievement other than obtaining it with exploits or switching to linux?

I got it following this:

"Achievement can still be unlocked. In Mac and Linux it still works. In Windows, you'll need to reconfigure the game from Steam so it runs the Beta version. As always, half of the difficulty lies in finding someone crazy enough to want this achievement. The other half of the difficulty is getting the achievement to pop-up, because there are many complaints that sometimes 4 tries are needed to make it happen."
"1. enable beta version (in the properties of the game in Steam, BETA VERSIONS section, instead of "No" select "pre-21.10-support - support branch"
2. in the game menu Multiplayer -> Create game -> Continue -> create / select a squad -> OK -> Ready -> Invite a friend -> select a partner from the list of friends -> Play
Do not forget to disable mods, including for configs - they can prevent achievement."

Update: got it. Also with regards the glitchyness of this achievement - Beta enabled, playing in Wotc, in Ranked game mode got it to unlock first try for both myself and Fatu. Base game would NOT work.
