Quick question about "counter attack" dark event
So I am playing commander difficulty iron man with grim horizons, and I ran into an interesting choice.
Either "Counter Attack" or "the Collectors" and I have a couple questions about them.
For counter attack, does that mean the revealed aliens will overwatch on the spot, or move to cover and then overwatch? And for the collectors, does that mean the chosen will try to capture operatives in missions, or is that a covert operations thing?
First time playing War of the Chosen so I have never run into either of those events.
Also which do you think would be worse to have permanently active?

Counter Attack means they can use any 1 AP action upon being revealed. Could be as simple as shooting at you or entering overwatch, or you could witness a Priest Stasis someone or a Shieldbearer pop his shield ability etc. It's definitely the worst of the two Dark Events to roll, I'd say.

I don't know about the Chosen one, though. I'm assuming both, but it's probably more noticable in combat since they'll capture instead of extract knowledge. You can avoid being dazed with proper planning in the battle map, and you can spend resources or additional soldiers etc to reduce your risk of being captured during Resistance Ops assuming it also affects those.

I don't mind people getting captured. It leads to a cool mission where you get to do some stealthy shenanigans and it's also one of the few missions I don't feel bad about retreating from while enemies are still on the map. Versus potentially having annoying happenings like being grenaded by mutons or having my accidentally revealed Reaper executed on the spot, anyway.

Never really paid attention to the first one, but "The Collectors" means capturing on regular combat missions (when they stun/daze your soldier). Normally they have a chance to just extract intel and then flee (leaving your soldier just fine), especially earlier on. As long as you always get your soldiers back up when fighting them and are able to kill the chosen it's a totally irrelevant dark event. There is a seperate one called "Left Behind" which adds capture as a possiblity to all covert actions. That one is much worse.

Yeah unfortunately I already have Left Behind active, I have been dealing with that well enough so far though...

If the collectors is just a higher chance for them to leave with the soldier instead of taking knowledge I would certainly prefer that one, since I don't like to leave soldiers dazed anyway.
Thank you for the information.

I always found the game a little too easy but Grim Horizons always seemed like it would become more tedious than actually difficult to play with. Imagine if you roll the Lost event really early and from then on every mission you play has the Lost in it.. I wouldn't finish that campaign. No way.
