How to Obtain Corpses, Help
In the base game, aliens not killed with explosives or heavy weapons drop corpses that you can obtain at the end of the mission. Not so in LW2, I've read that you can obtain corpses from missions where you don't need to extract to end a mission. My problem is that, even though I've been through 2 Advent Supply Defenses and 3 Monument Destruction missions, my stockpile remains barren. At the very least I should have 40-50 corpses, taking into account the aliens killed due to explosions and other heavy weapons. To try to circumvent this I've downloaded a mod that allows me to buy corpses from the blackmarket but the intel costs are high and a corpse may or may not be on sale for the month. Is something wrong here? Am I just missing something? I've been waiting to create a Skull Jack for several months now, I've managed to train up 6 Psi Ops, created a variety of laser weaponry, and have a total of 4 sectors under my control (including the one you start with).

EDIT:
Okay, so I've just defended a supply convoy from an Advent Raid, one where the mission ends without having to evac after killing everything (in my case 22 kills). After the mission I checked my inventory for corpses but I've yet to gain even a single corpse. No sectoid, no viper, no trooper / officer, no MEC, and no andromedon corpses whatsoever. How exactly do I fix this bug? It's game-breaking as I'm unable to progress whatsoever.

Certain missions, those where you need to extract at the end, you collect nothing from those. Also, certain research and projects consume corpses.

you get corpses from rendezvous, supply raids (not smash and grab), troop columns, hq and invasion

no bug, wrong mission type
this was an advent retaliation on YOUR supply convoy, you need to attack THEIR supply convoy

Do the region liberation mission chain. The last mission in the chain will give you a ton of corpses.

Oh, wait why doesn't defending your supply chain give corpses? Whatever, I guess I gotta wait for the next Advent Supply Chain or start a Liberation Chain. Thanks for the help, I was getting real nervous here since I've sunk too many hours and too many good men to start anew.

LW2 really pushes for an early liberation. I am not sure if it is just because of the corpses or if there is some other mechanic they want you to engage by liberating a region. Maybe a bit of both.

I only play LW2 with the mod that allows you to carry enemy corpses. To me that doesnt really break the lore, we can physically carry our own downed soldiers. Feels a little unnatural carrying off Mecs and Sectopods, but oh well. Its a nice supply bump for whatever you decide to sell, and its a reward for doing a mission so well that you have time to grab corpses before evacing.

I use this too (Extract Corpses mod) but have the lingering sensation that it might be cheating... Maybe it was meant to be harder with the corpses.

it is not about cheating if you carry out corpses as your wounded soldjers. It is qiute realistic

prokolyo Nov 18, 2018 @ 7:57am
I agree that it's realistic. But maybe the developers did that on purpose (preventing corpse gathering on most missions). The corpses mean more supplies from black market sales plus quicker research. Which makes the game easier. Plus I also have the True Concealment mod, for a stronger cheating sensation :) I like both mods, they feel realistic as, you say, but if I replay the game, it will be perhaps without them, or at higher difficulty level in order to compensate.

You know, I aslo use all mods that make Advent stronger, encluding Advent snipers and headhunters. So for me playable aliens + extract corpses only help get balance back.

I play on easiest level but ironman. I can not win anyway

This is an interesting discussion on the topic here.
