XCOM 2

Can DLC be switched on or off in-game?
Played this game with no DLC at all so far. I obviously want to pick up War of the Chosen, but was also interested in getting the Reinforcement Pack. (Both are currently on sale on the Humble Store.)

I've heard mixed things about the three DLCs in the Reinforcement Pack, but would like to try them out at least once myself. I was wondering though, when I start a new campaign, am I able to choose which DLC packs are active within the game options? So if for example it turns out I hate Alien Hunters, when I next start a campaign can I "deselct" that content? Or do I have to fully uninstall it in the Steam client?

(I seem to recall in XCOM: EU I could choose whether the DLC missions occurred or not when setting up a campaign.)

Using the game options you can only dictate the manner in which the DLC content is introduced not whether or not its introduced at all. Specific narative missions, radar contacts and research projects will all be disabled if you tick the "no thanks" options but the content will still be trickled into your campaign. Sometimes when you least expect it and randomly with no explantion if your not paying attention to the voice overs and GUI.

The only way to 100% disable the DLC content is to untick it in the DLC section of steam. This does however remove all the extra features and cosmetics the DLC add.

No idea about turning off the DLC mid-game, but when you create a new game, you are given the option in the game configuration screens to include the DLC missions - Shen's Last Gift and The Alien Nest (or whatever that second one is called). i would assume that the Chosen are added into that list too, although I don't have that yet.

This is correct, but choosing those options just disables the narrative missions and introductions to that content. It still is included in the game.
For example if you choose not to tick shen last gift you dont get all the awesome intro fmv or the narrative mission with lilly shen. You can however build sparks as soon as your proving ground finishes with no explanation as to how or why.

With regards to WOTC you have to make a choice on the launcher. Play vanilla or play WOTC.

Thanks for the info. Bit annoying that you can't decide when starting up a campaign: "This time I want Content X available but not Content Y."

Guess I'll have to think carefully about what I want to get... For some reason I'm a bit odd and don't really like the idea of disabling DLC in the Steam client. Just an odd mental thing of mine.
