War of Chosen - what about soldiers left behind?
One of my soldiers get unconscious during a mission, and I left him behind (yeah, I know, it's cowardly and lame).

During the debriefing the status of the soldier was "captured". I thought that this meant that he was captured by a Chosen (the mission took place in the territory controlled by a Chosen) and that I will be able to rescue him - but aparently that is not the case (I cannot see any captured soldiers in the "Chosen menu", no rescue mission available in resistance ring, etc.). As far as I understand, the new capture / rescue mechanics apply only to soldiers which were personally captured by Chosens - not to soldiers which were left on battlefield during evac (correct me if I'm wrong). So the guys you left behind are simply dead from the game persepctive.

The only thing that I'm worried about is that he didn't get his chance for a memorial photo and he is not listed in memorial in the bar - like the game doesn't count him as being dead. A bit sad that he simply dissapeared from any records. Should it really be like this?

he's now a reward for Rescue VIP council missions.

he's also 'dead' if you had a hero unit so you can recruit a second one, then rescue the first one to get two.

It also breaks bonds. so whoever he was bonded with is now unbonded.

I'm pretty sure that being captured doesn't break bonds. I've had several bonded captured and the bond was still there when I rescued them. Only death can break bonds.

Thanks a lot - so I can actually get him back as I understand.

He was a normal guy, not a hero unit.

As far as heroes are concerned - could you also tell me how you can recruit the next one after initial one was killed? I've lost skirmisher and don't know how to replace him.

Yeah you can. But he will appear as VIP rescue mission and it can take like half a year in-game until this mission pops up.
You can recruit another faction soldier only through covert action.

I just rescued a captured templar and his bond had gone. First time I'd ever noticed it happening mind you. Maybe it only happens to bonded faction soldiers?

Yeah....I've only bothered getting faction soldiers captured. hadn't tested on non-faction soldiers.
interesting that it breaks bonds on faction soldiers and not non-faction soldiers if true.
