Repaer's concealment and overwatch
So I have just started playing War of the Chosen, and I have already noticed some silly mechanics connected with concealment / overwatch - now that we have a Reaper.

During one mission I was waiting for Advent reinforcements in perfect position to shoot them using overwatch - but unfortunately my Reaper couldn't participate because he was still in concealment mode. Shouldn't it be possible to turn it off (decide to stop hiding) by yourself in order to allow a Reaper to shoot in overwatch when you really want? (it's like I cannot say to him - as a commander - to stop f...g hiding and fight along rest of the team)

The Reaper's concealment / overwatch issue is also a bit silly when planning an ambush. As far as I understand, if you want a Reaper to take part, YOU HAVE to start an ambush with his action. For example, you cannot order your grenadier to fire a grenade and then count on Reaper to take out some of enemies, because he will still remain concealed and will not shoot. I really believe that as far as a Reaper is concerned, there should be a second overwatch order button - namely ordering him to shoot in overwatch if other team members are revealed.

I know you can probably tell me that it's just how the game works, but I really feel that it is simply stupid that you cannot decide when and where your soldier shoot at the enemy.

A reaper is not supposed to go out of concealment even during ambushes if they can. Thats not their role. Use them for scouting and setting up ambushes. If you want them to shoot they can already easily flank literally any enemy without risk due to their ability.

Later on a high level reaper can take killing shots without revealing himself no matter what. You will want them to always be in concealment until the last possible moment.

Which should always be banish. If your reaper was revealed otherwise that means you've made a mistake.

If you want your reaper to break concealment just break a window or something.
Use waypoints to move in a closed loop.

Ok guys, I get it - from tactical perspective it's general better to stay concealed. But in the mission when I was only waiting for evac and had to defend against reinforcements I really didn't care about concealment anymore, all I wanted from my Reaper was to shoot at damn landing Advent troops. Do you really think that the game shouldn't allow me to decide on that? Of course I can jump through windows in order to achieve my goal, but it;s simply stupid...

It's a turn-based videogame, plenty of things will seem stupid from "common sense" perspective.
Have you tried looking for a mod that would allow you a choice between normal and concealed overwatch?

Hmm in that situation i still would've preferred them to stay concealed for other possible actions. But ehh i know people have different playstyles and yeah jumpin through a window or rushin through a door are the only things i can think of if you really wanna get rid of it that much lol..

Well, I get it that it's a game and it has its mechanics, but this one is really a immersion-breaking issue from my perspective.

Once agains, imagine this - you have an Advent landing zone in open field just below a roof on which you have your Reaper ready with a sniper rifle. However, you cannot order him to shoot at landing troops ("no sir, sorry sir, I'm a Reaper sir, I stay in shadows sir, so f... you sir"). And there are no windows nearby :-)

And?
You also cannot order soldier A to give his grenade to soldier B after soldier B used his grenade.
Also, you can't replicate frost bomb, but it re-charges every mission.
Etc, etc.
Gameplay abstraction. They are everywhere.

There should be a mod to do that.

Anyways, taking overwatch shots from an ambush is bad imo. You wouldn't want all reactive shots wasted on 1 guy with aim penalty. Better to open an ambush with 1 shooter while you use the rest (eg reaper) to go for flank and get crit shot.

I wouldn't want my concealed rangers to reveal in an ambush and getting aim penalties. I need him up close for opening crit shots.

The only reason of overwatch shots is when enemy is beyond good range to come closer to you so you gain sort of an extra shots during enemy's turn.

Thanks for all comments guys.

Just one comment, another very good reason for overwatch is when you are waiting for advent reinforcements (red flare burning) - you can shoot in their turn and thereafter move / shoot again in your turn (after they land and disperse). That was the main case which led me to post it, as the Reaper simply won't shoot unless you smash his / her head through a window.

yes very nice!
early reaper is pure scout and when you feel no need to hide just take action which break shadow mode
