WTF happened to the chosen?
(I completed the whole game with this dlc) after killing the first chosen i though, "oh, this is interesting" but then i killed the next one and there was no cut scene. then i killed the last one and there was no cut scene. then i finished the game and nothing was said about them. i was expecting them to come back to life coz of the elders psyonic abilitys and help them during the final mission as a last resort but no. The chosen were not a bit part of this dlc so i am realy confused. What hapened after they died? what did the elders do? they cant haave simply just shrugged their sholders and carried on as normal. thats not what the elders are.

The chosen are just another obsticle thrown in your way by the elders to prevent you destroying the avatar project. You destroyed the chosen repeatedly and then also destroyed the special tech they used to come back. Every time you killed the sarcophagus and then killed that chosen there was a small cutscene showing there acceptance of the final death. With the warlock its a pretty exagerated death scene where he bemoans the fact that the elders dont care as they dont turn up to save him. The hunter who was a tad wiser, does infact shrug his shoulders and accept his fate.

While I do agree that after you defeat the chosen it feels more like they never did exist, the reason for them not being brought back is because the mechanism that the elders used to allow the chosen to be brought back is the Sarcophagus that you have to destroy when you fight them. When you destroy that thing they can no longer be resurrected.

It is odd that you didn't get cut scenes after killing them though.

The actual narrative structure of XCOM 2 WOTC is something like this:

Guerrilla force (XCOM) is fighting advent administration and chosen, while elders are busy elsewhere.

Neither advent, nor chosen or XCOM actually see the "bigger picture" as it is. As such, the fact that elders never respond to chosen's demise might very well simply reflect the fact that the situation for the elders is actually getting much more dire than what one might assume otherwise.

Just imagine — for all that we know, there might be a parallel timeline where some other forces are decimating the elders while XCOM is busy undermining the avatar project.

Then something bugged for you. They all have short scenes when they die where you see them on the sarcophagus podium. They all have different ways they die and different things they say.

What exactly do you mean by "cutscene"?
As Eggy said, there's a short animation at the end of each assault mission where basically
  • Assassin congratulates you for being strong and wishes you good luck in your fight
  • Warlock "sees" the elders coming to him (to recover his soul??), no way to know whether he's just imagining this or they are actually trying to save some part of him
  • Hunter displeased how it feels to be afraid
However, only the first kill triggers an avenger cutscene (full pre-rendered movie after the end of the mission) where you see the remaining 2 being called by the elders. There's actually 3 different cutscenes with different talks from the elders depending on which choosen dies first but you'll only see one of those.

As for what happens to them, well, they are dead and you destroyed their regenerating chamber so there's a good chance they are gone for good. As for why the Elders didn't do something, it's likely they couldn't do much more than what all they already did (which is why the Choosen were so hard to really kill), at least not without using a lot of psy power. Considering their current health and the existence of a yet to be discovered enemy they appear to fear despite their tremendous power they might be enable or unwilling to use so much power to save mere tools, if there is anything they could do at all. Despite advent propaganda the Elders are not gods, they are just powerful beings with their own limits and they wouldn't be trying to create new bodies if they hadn't hit those limits hard already.

oh ok. i thought that there would be more pre-rendered cutscenes after i killed each one in the avenger. i saw the death sequences. I expected there to be more story towards them so i was quite disapointed. Thats why i thought there should be more.

The scene you supposed to see after defeating the chosen is the last extra scene in the game.

Those cutscenes were so cool, it was very disappointing that their story was kinda just dropped.

The game even keeps showing you the "chosen progression" screen at the beginning of each month long after they're dead, like the devs didn't bother to wrap up things and give you a conclusion..
