XCOM 2

Fun factor fo next campaign.
Hi I am fairly experienced player, but with limit amount of time.
I Like to be challenged and play with minimum reloading.

This is what I played so far:
(I do not count some failed abandoned campaigns early in game, when I was learnning, only listing full campaigns

XCOM 1 ENEMY WITHIN impossible (current run) (edit: no mods)
XCOM 2 classic (commader) (edit: vanilla)
XCOM 1 ENEMY WITHIN ironman classic (edit: no mods)
XCOM 1 classic (edit: vanilla)

What do you recommend for next experience difficutly settings/ mods, dlcs etc?
I do not plan I/I, ever.
I missed some content in my xcom1 classic ironman run, so I would not like to have that happen again, so I am postponing ironman in xcom2, if I use any new content.
I have limited time to play, dislike grinding, and unneccesarry amount of possibilieties. I prefer quality content.
Money is not an issue, but I dislike cosmetic content.

I played a lot of xcom games (93 enemy unknow, terror from deep, apocalypse, extreterrestrials, aftermath, aftershock, afterlight) I like all of them, but honestly i consider the new xcom1 and 2 very good and better, despite nostalgia.)

Also I would like to try some multiplayer battles but no luck so far.

Did you play long war mods for either xcom or xcom2 yet?

I'd consider LW for either game or a Grim Horizion ( all dark events are permanent) Classic difficulty playthrough of 2.

LW adds enough mechanical changes to make it feel fresh.

I really recommend the Wrath of the Chosen mod. If you like the Chosen/nemesis mechanic in War of the Chosen, that mod really kicks up the threat/fear factor of the Chosen. Its challenging but since its confined to only those times you encounter the chosen, it will have a limited impact on the overall game. Play it on commander should make for a nice kick in the game. On L/I it can be occasionally brutal.

Your idea of fun might be different from mine, but here's what I'm doing currently; maybe there's an interesting mod or two you'll like here -

Difficulty :
Legend/Ironman (can turn it down if you want)

Gameplay mods :
ABA (A Better Advent) - This makes AI smarter.

World War L - This makes Lost hordes lethal - they're an actual threat now. Introduces new lost types and gives them small cosmetic upgrades as well.

MOCX - This introduces human enemies to the game just like XCOM. They level up and gain skills as XCOM as well.

Grimy's Loot mod - This gives really interesting loot item that you can gain from killing enemies. Even has rarity types (Common, rare, epic etc.). You can get OP items from this however. That can be balanced by the mod mentioned below.

Item durability - This makes it so the unique items (like the freeze bomb) can get damaged and would have to be repaired. This mod balances out Grimy's loot mod.

Resistance firearms - Love this one. It adds real life firearms to the game that the soldiers can use. Complete with custom sounds and effects.

Class based Shivs - adds SHIVs from XCOM EU to the game.

More traits - Adds more negative and positive traits to the game.

Additional dark events - Adds more dark events

Lots of mods for new enemy types with interesting abilities and items to be gained from their respective autopsies (Salarian engineers, Turian strikers, Asari adepts - all from mass effect universe, celatid aliens, nightmare creatures etc.)

QOL mods :
Free camera rotation - can manually move camera around and set it as you wish. Nothing like playing the game at eye level though this tanks the frames at times.

Evac All - One click to evac all soldiers

Overwatch All/Others - One click to overwatch all/others.

Gotcha Again - Flank and LoS icon display. Really helpful!

Perfect Information - Needs no introduction.

Additional icons - Shows health, damage, mobility etc. of all soldiers and enemies.

Quick soldier info - Displays portraits/photos of your soldiers on your screen so you can quick select them (configurable). Really handy for seeing how many moves you have left on someone, plus shows other info at a quick glance.

Robojumper's squad select - Makes squad select stylish! Seriously, have a look at this one.

Random mods :
Propaganda poster pack - adds 14 nice backgrounds for use in the photobooth.

Photobooth quotes - adds new quotes for photobooth pics.
