Just reduce the avatar progress, jezz
Also save the first story mission blacksite for when its full, after unlocking the first story mission you should focus on opening up a route to the closest facility or if you got a facility lead then save it as long as you can and only research it once you got the closest facility unlocked this way you will get the most out of the facility lead as it will unlock another facility much farther away.
If you got WotC its much easier to controll the avatar progress making it even possible to never fill up.
in WotC you should use the same tactic as in vanilla but intead now you got covert ops that reduce the avatar progress and with some luck you get an ability that reduce i once at every supply drop
No enemy sits and waits for its opponent to make progress. The Avatar bar is going to fill up.
The pressure is on because the pressure is on.
50% full is not 100% full.
if your playing vanilla its fine and expected for you to sit on a max bar most of the time just Keeping your head above water.
If your playing WOTC then there are many ways to reduce the counter and its easy to keep it sat on a minimum of pips for large chunks of the game.
You can also go into the advance options when starting a new game and double the number of pips on the Avatar bar.
All the facility and plot missions you can save for when you need to reduce the avatar timer. It is even optimal on legend to save the black site mission until the avatar bars switch to the countdown. If you didn't know after all the blocks fill up you still have I believe 3 full weeks to do any action that reduces the avatar project. It is pretty hard to lose to the timer.
Most games the avatar timer will max / near max before you turn the tide and start being able to easily take on black site / other plot missions and facilities. Usually it is more about having the comm links and money / intel to connect to the territories containing the facilities.
In wotc once you have all 3 factions contacted and some of the chosen defeated it seems to have a high chance to give you a covert op each month to reduce the avatar timer 2 blocks.
Just do the avatar facilities, what's your problem?
I'm not really a big fan of false timers like that. I would prefer the avatar project to be a real timer and properly scaled to be presenting urgency and not false urgency.
Dealing with the avatar project isn't really a major issue. you can skull jack an officer and raid the blacksite from your starting location, those events will reset the clock twice. which is plenty of time to contact the world.
Dude. You need to expand anyway. And you train your troops to do missions. Facility Raids are one of the most relaxing missions, because there are no timers.
So what's your problem? Are you turtling? Wrong priorities? Mission anxiety?
