Do Mimic Beacons work on the Chosen?
I never tried, because I assume it'd be a waste of a turn (and a Beacon use), but anyone with more precise info? Thanks in advance.

They defintely won't prioritize the beacon, but I think I've seen them shoot at one before.

Ah, ok; thanks. So still not worth wasting a turn on them, since it's not a guarantee.

Yeah I would only use it if there were other enemies alongside the Chosen.

I don't think they are fooled by it. I think i vaguely recall this infomation is on the wikia.

It works after a fashion. If they use a regular shot and the mimic beacon is in line of sight (which isn't guaranteed due to the way they move so far before they act) then it will draw the shot, just as it does with other enemies.

Unlike against other enemies it won't cause chosen to shoot in preference to using a skill though, and if they do use a skill it'll be on your units.

You can bait the assassin in with a mimic beacon if you make sure it's in range of her while she's still in concealment and none of your troops are, as well.

Got it; thanks. I may try once or twice just to see, but one mis-step against the Chosen is one or two guys in the hospital for a while, so I am very wary ;)

Old topic, but since I searched this and then made a test, Warlock tried to MC mimic beacon on Legendary. GG.

I wouldn't be surprised if the mimic beacon didn't work on the Chosen. The super king/queen beasts created by Vahlen ihave gnored the mimic beacon in my experience.

It is surprising indeed mimic beacon worked on the Chosen. Does not really get in-line with their superiority :D

As indicated above, Chosen treat them like any other units, unlike other aliens who prioritise the Mimic. However, since they aren't valid targets for some of their abilities, if their AI decision tree wants to use those abilities, obviously they will appear to "ignore" the beacon in that sense.

I, as matter of personal choice, do not use the mimic beacon, but I have seen similar threads often enough to know that yes, a mimic beacon will work on the chosen, IF there is no more attractive target - such as the assassin will harbour wave to hit as many XCOM as possible, and if the beacon is on its own while your team is all bunched up, then your team will cop the wave. Similar for other AoE effects. Likewise, the hunter's tracking shot chooses based on maximum annoyance, to force you to move units you probably dont want to move out of position, and chances are good your beacon is already in a bad place, so it wont be targeted.

Thank you both of you for this clarifications, now it is clear. Can be valuable in Ironman. I did not use mimics by the way before I/C. In ironman they are like soft reload :)

I've only just started using mimic beacon on my latest playthrough. They can be handy for luring the Lost, though they have their own lure which I've never used.
