What is it with dreads?
There are a lot of hair styles, but have you noticed that about 90% of new soldiers, no matter of what race, have dreadlocks? Some others are bald/buzzcut and only a few have the other styles. OTOH, about 90% of scientists, of whatever gender, are bald. Probably so no hairs will fall into their lab experiments?
Then there's this fascination with Alien Hunter armor. If you leave even a tiny space on the slider, about 90 % of new soldiers will be wearing assorted AH armors. Even if you leave the slider all the way to the left, every time you upgrade to Predator or Warden armor 90% of your soldiers will be changed into Alien Hunter attire. Even the faction soldiers have their armor messed up, although they can't use AH stuff.
I think i spend more time fixing my soldiers' gear to make them look like I want, than actually playing :-o

I have very few cosmetic mods running (pretty much just extra head accessories/helmets) and I've never had that problem. If your armor is getting messed up, it's probably due to the "full customization at all levels" mod. Probably not the exact mod name, but you get the gist of it.

No cosmetic mods just all the DLC, I think for some reason the game tends to favor dreadlocks. Probably it's the first choice in a list or something. About the alien hunter armor, I know it is a common thing that when you update to Predator, most of your soldiers get changed into that armor (you know, that little chestplate with a tiger head and exposed belly, feathers and spikes on the shoulders, etc.) If at least there was more variety. Frankly I don't like the alien hunter armors at all, nor the others which are like raiders from Fallout 4. They are all right for those who like them but they shouldn't appear by default.

Ah i think those are anarchys children armor not alien hunter. I used to have that problem until i moved the bar all the way to the left. Now it doesn't happen anymore if it happens for you then that might be some weird bug.

Yeah unfortunately anarchy's children has it uses like giving a separate arm slot, if not I would disable it.

There is a settings page for cosmetics that is used by all the official DLCs and also alot of mods.
There are sliders that affect the chance of those cosmetics apearing on random characters.
All you need to do is set the anarchys children one all the way to 0. You can still use all the cosmetics on any characters you alter manualy and they get used on any imported characters but will not apear on any generated characters.
If you are still seeing lots of anarchy cosmetics on random soldiers whith it at zero, then it is another issue.

With the slider all the way to the left, in fact anarchy items no longer appear on new characters, BUT they still will appear on most of your soldiers every time you upgrade to Predator or to Warden armors. I don't know what the issue might be, if it is only me, since I have no mods that alter cosmetics. I hate it when Shen presents the new armor "the new Predator armor blah blah blah..." and I see the modeling soldier wearing that silly outfit and thumping his tiger chestplate.
That said, I have found other people reporting the same issue so I don't think it's only me or one of my mods.
About dreads, I think that is a vanilla hair, not Anarchy because it still appears a lot even with the slider all the way to the left (maybe not 90% I exaggerated a bit but more than half of new soldiers have them). Frankly I don't care too much for dreads, and the commander has issued a general order that they are non-regulation aboard the Avenger ;-) .
Actually I'm not looking for a fix, I doubt there is one and it's not that important (although I do lose a good amount of time re- dressing my toons, especially when I have more than 30), just for a friendly sharing of opinions. I expected to find more people who had the same impressions, though.

Anarchy's Children, when equipped, can get into a groove sometimes in chosing Rookie options. I have a vanilla game going on right now where 1/3 of my starting Rookies had mohawks of some kind. I have also had games where dreads seemed to be an easy choice. (Not to mention all the short shorts.) I won't scold you about your Soldier appearances though. they are your soldiers, and you the Commander can implement the dress code any way you see fit. Playing Resistance Barbie (sorry bro, "Resistance G.I. Joe") with the troops is all part of the fun anyway.

I feel it depends on the campain. Some campains mostly have pigtails on males with shorts etc. Others have normal hairstyles. Others ahve mostly females while others have mostly men.

My current one is also Dreads on almost every new soldier.

It is like the game just randomise a style/gender at the start and almost never change it.
