Neutralize all enemy targets broke this game for me
I really wanted to love this game. But the amount of game breaking bugs that come with war of the chosen are just unbearable for me. Mostly the "Neutralize all enemy targets" bug, but also the "VIP is out of actions" bug. I first started into deinstalling mods and began a new game. After encountering the bugs again, i deinstalled even more mods and started another new game. After encountering the bugs again, i deinstalled all mods, deinstalled the game, manually deleted the entire game folder, made a completly fresh installation and started a new game without any mods at all - only to encounter the bugs again.

It kills me. It really does. To find out after a good hour or so of careful maneuvering that the mission was never meant to be won in the first place... it's pure anti-fun for me. And that these bugs are still present in WOTC, years after it's release, it just shows me that the publisher really does not care. So, if anyone has some good ideas here, i'm open for them. Otherwise i'll just deinstall and never look back. What a waste of time and money.

Even without mods, the game is still buggy...

Thank you for reading my entire post.

Like FALLENV3GAS said, it's still basically unplayable without mods. Massive disappointment.

What kind of bug is that supposed to be? Kill all enemies aint no bug.

I have a few hundred hours of gameplay on WOTC. 99% of it is was without mods. (Just started using mods yesterday).

I was actually thinking what a well made game this is because I haven't seen any bugs yet. The only bug I found was so tiny (I got two "evec" buttons for my free fighter when evacing at end).

This game is really well play tested. Can I suggest you use the most up to date graphics card drivers and chipset drivers for your PC and try again? I know I don't have access to your PC but I suspect your PC has something eccentric about it maybe? I hope you don't take that personally, some people get so angry when you try to help them on steam.

You know what graphics card and chipset you use? You can probably find out under the Windows Control Panel.

Good luck. I hope you can get to enjoy the game again one day :)

Missions do not end when the last enemy is killed. I read a number of threads on this board with the same problem, so i just assumed that most people here would be familiar with this bug. It happens every other mission. There is no way to tell if the mission will bug out or not, until you have killed your last spawn. But once you're there, nothing else works. You can either retreat and fail the mission or reload to geoscape and try to get another mission. Even cheats don't help with this.

First of all, thank you very much. I've been playing X-COM games for the last 20 years or so and never had this kind of problem. Even X-COM2 without WOTC worked pretty damn good, even with mods and DLC and whatnot.

I'm running a GTX 1080 Ti with the latest drivers, a corsair 16 GB RAM and AMD FX 8320 octacore 3,5 GHz. The CPU is not state of the art, but it really should be enough to play this game. I just can't figure out why it wouldn't just work properly.

Well, i'm glad that other people don't have the same problem.

I think i'll just put this game aside for now and give it another try in a year or two.

You haven't turned off auto updates in any way in Steam have you? I do remember having this problem in the past. And there were some issues with WoTC after I installed that too for awhile but I haven't had a game breaking bug for a very long time. I've got around 370 mods installed (none of which are performance or bug fix type mods) and 662 hours in on this time sucker of a game and rarely have issues, all of which are caused purely because I have mods. I'm wondering if somehow your version of X-COM is out of date? If it is up to date then there must be something in your setup somehow. Certainly the video card and the amount of RAM you have is more than sufficient...I'm currently running on a current gen i7 with 16GB of RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB card. But this is a recent computer...my old computer was a second gen i3 with 6GB of RAM and a 750Ti 2GB card. That's the computer I had crashing or buggy issues on until towards the end where I brought an SSD into the mix and reinstalled the game on the SSD and it ran much better. Not saying you need a new computer as what you have far outstrips my old PC but just pointing out that a minor hardware upgrade really helped the game on my old PC. I have no idea if the AMD proc would make any difference or not either...probably not as my old i3 was Intel of course and I did have similar issues for awhile with it. Sorry for all the rambling.

Maybe its lost missions?
Cause finding the last lost on a map can be annoying.
Snow Jul 13, 2019 @ 8:22am
I had a mission where i couldn't find the last enemies and it was extremely frustrating. After splitting my 6 men off into every corner of the map to search I eventually found the last squad. Trapped into a 2x2 box completely walled in, they didn't activate when i was close and i didn't hear any movement from them, i just happened to decide to try to blow open the 2x2 room because it was literally the last place on the map i hadn't checked.

So this could be the issue. The map RNG trapping either a random lost or an entire squad out of sight.

I've played probably ten thousand or more missions and I've seen my share of bugs (though none so game breaking), but I've never seen or heard of the two specifically here. Both sound incredibly frustrating.

Something is definitely wrong with your particular installation of the game, which normally sounds like either mods or corrupted files. If you've genuinely scrubbed all traces of both, done a clean reinstall and verified the integrity of the game files (right click game in steam library - properties - local files - verify integrity) I'd agree there's not really anything more you can do.

I guess the only question would be whether there was some parts of a mod left over during your clean reinstall, or a subscription left active or something.

Apart from some lost missions neither have I.

Or it happened so rarely that I dont really remember.

On second thought there is a console you can use for workarounds:

I haven't tested this for authenticity, but it's likely to work

endbattle xcomwins true

ETA: Might require use of the correct objective completion commands prior to calling for the battle to end, google finds pages that claim to list them, for example this one:
https://commands.gg/xcom2/forcecompleteobjective

ETA2: I'm not convinced of the accuracy of that last page as they appear to have missed an "r" out of the word "force" repeatedly.

This page contains an alternative suggestion:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/7asg3i/how_does_the_endbattle_console_command_work/
The EndBattle command literally just ends the battle. Since you didn't complete any objectives, you fail the mission.

I didn't test it, but I think you can cheat complete the objectives though, for example with

ForceCompleteObjective "Defense"

A full list of objectives for mission types can be found in DefaultMissions.ini

It's been years since I had the can't get to the last enemy bug, the problem was they were spawning inside rocks, etc. That was fixed long ago

Currently the only bug I know of is if your guy carrying the enemy VIP is the last to evac the mission will not register you captured him

I gotta say I have never seen a bug with this game. It's been smooth sailing for me. Hope you figure out your problem though.

Bad optimization on this one. So many complaints over the years. I still prefer EW anyway (Long War, specifically), though, as the better of the two games. It doesn't bother me not to play this one so much.
