XCOM 2

The Spokesman
In X-Com EU/EW the council evaluation made some sense regarding your performance, however in this game is the Spokesman's evaluation worth anything? Sometimes I get the feel that his "evaluation" is completely random. I've been doing great, the right (white) side of the things achieved this month is chock full with about six lines of stuff, the left (red) side of things ADVENT did is empty, and still, "your efforts have been mediocre, we may have to reconsider hiring you" etc. etc. And the Chosen then add a comment on how bad I'm doing. I know it's BS but it's annoying. I wish his worthless evaluation could be turned off. ♥♥♥♥ him.

Yeah, I think there is something wrong with how it's graded or how they decide what he says. Especially in WotC. I've had "perfect" months where the aliens don't get anything done and he still says I need to do better.

I think the problem here is your mother is not giving any commentary. The devs should had put commander's mother in game, after which you could chose whose feedback you listen. So that you could only listen commander's mother speaking.

I wish someone mod commander's mother in game.

Early game you can get caught out since the Spoiler Project can progress a fair amount before you even learn about it. Since you arent doing anything about it. This can hammer your monthly grading.

As a side note no it doesnt really impact on the game in any way that Ive seen. Because Ive purposely tanked 3 months in a row and it still didnt end.

Yeah, I'll call my mom then. What I complain about is that the evaluation doesn't seem to be coherent with what really went on. Sometimes I get really bad months with lost missions etc. "You're doing great". I totally trash the aliens, "we better hire someone else". Who is he anyway. There's no council anymore and he isn't the boss.

Ok so lets be clear about this we are supposed to be the saviour of humanity but if we mess up we could be replaced ? if humanaity is at stake why didnt they get that guy instead ?

The council pepega is best just ignored, he is delusional and disturbed. Chosen are awesome, especially the ninja chosen, I at times want to keep them alive so that I could listen and laugh them trying to taunt me.

I like the Hunter, hate the Assassin, and kind of feel sorry for the Warlock. Meaning their personalities, I hate them all on the field!

The Chosen putting you down is normal. They're trash talking you.

As for the spokesman, I may be wrong, but in my experience his comments only take into account avatar pips gained vs avatar pips loss. You could win 8 missions in a month, but if the track gained 4 pips and lost none, he will scold you.

You can raid two chosen strongholds but if the avatar project was advanced in one little block then the spokesman will scold you. I liked the previous game's spokesman more.

This. This right here is what I suspect

If you are not doing anything about the Avatar Project and letting the progress timer keep ticking up and thus allowing humanity to get that much closer to the alien holocaust for us then I would say that no, you are not doing all that great or performing flawlessly considering the fact that you have done little or not enough to avert our holocaust which is your primary mission throughout the whole game.

It would be like doing lots of pointless side quests and then being confused why Kreia or someone is criticizing you in an RPG.
"you didn't finish or even work on your mission"
"But I saved that cat from the tree and completed lots of pointless fetch quests flawlessly!"
"Yes you did. That's the point. You did all of that while the galaxy is burning."

Well I mean it's maybe not to that degree because at least all of your side projects actually DO have a point and play a role towards the main story But you get the idea. It's unlike in borderline immersion breaking rpg sidequests where you have this super important mission to save the whole world as the Chosen One and yet anybody with any damn sense would be saying "why the hell is the Chosen One utterly ignoring his all important quest to save the multiverse and just running around saving cows and trying to collect 57 gold instead" which I often find ridiculous in games because really, why the ♥♥♥♥ are you as the greatest general alive running around doing such completely pointless things?

So at least yes you are doing flawlessly in fights and covert ops and whatnot but if you aren't torching their facilities and setting back the Avatar progress timer then you're going to get knocked back on his comments. I wondered the same thing before realizing that I hadn't taken down a single alien facility or researched a single shadow project and so I was basically just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around and he (spokesman) knew it and called me out on it.

I'm quite sure I've received bad remarks in months where the AVATAR didn't advance (at least the red side of the "things done" is completely empty), and good remarks when it did advance and plenty, and in which really bad things happened like losing missions. That is why I think it is random and meaningless, not like the evaluations in XCom 1.
In my current game, with doubled timers, the 24-pip AVATAR counter filled up in July!!! But I have received mostly good remarks from the guy. I don't know why his rambling gets under my skin but it does.
He needs to be patched to take into account taking down the Chosen, Resistance Missions, UFO's/supplies raided and Guerrilla ops completed during his report.

Is it me, or does he sound remarkably like Optimus Prime?
