XCOM 2

"pure virtual function being called while application was running (GIsRunning == 1)"
I just purchased the PC Steam version XCOM 2 as a package with all the DLC 3 days ago and I am immensely disappointed. So far I have 20 hours into this game and more than half of those hours have been spent trying to correct the crash with the error msg "pure virtual function being called while application was running (GIsRunning == 1)" Apparently this crash has been well known almost since the game was initially released. Does anyone know of a fix for this? I am about to delete all Local Content and reload from scratch without installing any of the DLC stuff. Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

I just got this message when I moved my second SPARK unit towards an enemy position. I activated Overcharge so I could get in range and was moving one-by-one to make sure I didn't move three groups worth (two movements so I can use the third to shoot) and it froze right as he stopped moving on the first.

I believe every time I've gotten this before, it was with SPARKs in the group, although it could just be that the DLC itself is problematic.

I never expect a fix, honestly. If they took this long, they don't care enough to solve it.

I bought this game yesterday. Clean installation, no DLCs, no workshop mods and game crashing randomly nearly all 30 minutes. I've read about a fix by reinstalling net-components, but this doesn't work because my installed components are newer then the components it want to install. A steam file check is going without result.

If i also read here that this bug wan't fixed since years, it looks like that i invested my money bad and can't not understood why this game got very good reviews. Pity, this game has potential.

Hey Guys, So I was having that issue with PUBG all the time and i was gaming on a 3G card. I realized that my LAN card was disabled when my 3G was connecting. When forcing the card to be enabled. I stopped getting the error.

Got hit with it again yesterday and nothing could save it. Loaded the previous autosave and used the console to complete the mission (unlimited moves) Easiest way to do it. Worked fine once past the broken save/section

This is one bug that seems to have eluded the devs in the vanilla version. They were never able to fix it in vanilla but as far as I know this bug does not exist in WotC (has not appeared in my 1000+ hours of just WOTC alone). I got this at least 2 to 3 times every time I used to play vanilla.

I did turn off nvidia overlay, and this error never happen again.
You must open Nvidia GeForce Expirience -> Settings -> General -> IN-GAME Overlay switch to off.

Just bought this on sale with all the dlc included. Am playing the base xcom2 (not wotc) with all dlc enabled and this is happening to me when I'm loading saves.

There are way too many threads with people saying random things to try, including garbage theories like overclocking and changes to .ini files. The only thing that looks credible is that it's an issue with the Shen's Last Gift dlc which is the only official response I've seen from someone contacting support.

Fix it please. Despite the fact it was on sale I paid over 50 bucks for the game and it's not exactly an early access alpha. It shouldn't be crashing without a fix with such a descriptive error available to the publisher (who takes the money) who should be making resources available for the devs to resolve.

I do understand it's probably not a piority but it's not a good look selling a tried and tested game with a known, unresolved bug. I was stoked to see this is a Firaxis game after I bought it, having been a big fan of Civ4 BTS and looking for another cool turn based, non-timed strategy game to play. This bug is just damaging reputation.

just to let you know, after trying out all of the above fixes to no avail, I disabled a certain mod and the error went away. In my case the game was crashing on the squad select screen due to Robojumper Squad Select mod.

To everyone intrested, the error has no real connection wirh virtual memory, .net ramework, directx or whatever you can do with your system. It's only a very dumb programming mistake.
