XCOM 2

Why there is no "restart mission" option??
I totally do not like save\load abuse, so if I fail, I prefer to restart a whole mission. At least I used this option in XCOM:Enemy unknown. Why did devs remove/not implement this in XCOM2? :sectoid:

Because the idea behind the game is that you live with your mistakes and handle the consequences. If you want a safety net, save at the beginning of the mission. It's the exact same thing.

OP don't play Ironman mode then simply do a user made "Save" BEFORE you start a Mission, that way you can reload the start of a Mission if you needed to.

Idea is great, but if we have to follow it, we have to remove save/load capability at all and use only exitsave that vanishes after it was used :steamhappy:

I do exactly what you said, but there are more actions to perform, other than click "Resart mission". :winkkit:

Yeah, it's a bit strange they did not include a restart option, since you can save/reload anyway (unless you're playing ironman). Like others said, just make a save titled "combat" or something at the start of the mission so you can revert to it if things go badly. I try not to savescum, but also refuse to play ironman because of the potential of a glitch or misclick or derp moment ruining a campaign.

In order not to start a new thread i want to ask. Alien soldier hit me in melee and then run in to the cover and shoot me. All in one turn. Is that normal behavior? If that so, I wanna play aliens :steamfacepalm:

Well that's clearly BS - there's an autosave, and you can savescum to your hearts content.

There's a thread about what side of the box the buttons are placed in xcom2. If you have the option on gatecrasher, then why not. At some point the player will finish the game, all this do is to make this player feel uncomfortable playing the game when the game is shortcoming to teach the player to how to play the game. Not all missions need to be successful, but there's a learning curve on what missions are allowed to be failed while some other missions failure is not acceptable. We are constantly reminded of failure even when we win that I, playing the game felt like I'm punished for doing the right thing.

No, that shouldn't happen. Unless they have a perk that lets them attack and then move in the same turn? Can't remember it happening to me though.

Ironman is optional.
Yes, the game IS optimised with ironman in mind, but noone ever said it's not optional and that players should somehow be prevented from using save/load if that's what they prefer.

For future reference, it's better to start a new thread than to add a completely unrelated question to an existing one.

There are people who've laid various unpleasant remarks at the feet of people who don't play ironman. That's not welcome on this forum, just for reference.

Easy fix...

...

Turn Ironman off...

Make a new save file at the start of mission entitled 'Restart mission'...

There's your restart button...

Well, you, of all people, are well aware exactly how adequate these people are.

You can summon console and type restartlevel (to get console you need to make some additional settings in game lunch in steam, but I don't remember what exactly)
