XCOM 2

How is the UI of this game so broken, so long after launch? Read before purchase.
Moving around in the menu's in base is incredibly annoying and unintuitive. Sometimes the globe is in the bottom left, allowing me to go to the map view, sometimes not, in which case I have to bounce around different parts of the base before it appears.

While looking at weapon mods, it showed that I could use RB and LB to switch soldiers. I'm not only not using a controller, I haven't pushed so much as a single button using a controller in playing this game. Worth noting, there was no way for me to switch soldiers in the weapon mod menu using mouse and keyboard, just shoulder buttons.

I currently have a bug where the "Make Utility Items Available" button is stuck on the bottom of my screen. I screenshotted it while on map view, with the button overlaying itself on top of the mission icons.

I have the same issue with movement on the map that plenty of others seem to as well. Trying to designate spots inside of buildings that have multiple floors is nearly impossible at times. In the first rescue mission where you save the scientist or engineer inside of the van that you have to hack open, there was only 1 square inside the van that my currently selected soldier could get to that turn, but I couldn't select it. Sorry, correction, I COULD select that spot, by putting my cursor in the square below and to the side of it. Rotating the camera was not help, given that only 1 of the rotations allowed me to select the tile no matter where I put my mouse.

This isn't a UI issue, but I had a medkit a mission or 2 ago, I didn't use it(not that it should be disposable), and yet it has disappeared from my inventory completely, not showing up even when using the "Make Utility Items Available" button.

I've also had a lot of issues with the rng being totally out of control, getting spotted when I had no indication that moving to a tile would trigger enemies. The very first mission you get that isn't the intro mission, I died on and had to restart. Not because of bad tactics, but because the Sectoid was standing behind a tree, and troops that had a clear line of sight from it's sides still had under a 50% chance to hit, despite the fact that the tree was in no way obstructing their angle, and I missed every shot while the Sectoid mind controlled one of my troops, and they mopped up the rest of my team. I understand the game has a lot of rng, but flanking just plain doesn't work. I've stood 1 square away from an enemy, no disorientation or other status effects, and had a 44% chance to hit.

This turned into more of a post on how overall ♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game has been in my experience. The core is good, and I know plenty of others whose opinions I respect love it, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is this game a terrible compared to the last game. I've sunk maybe 100 hours into the previous XCOM, and sight lines/hit chances are totally bonkers compared to that one, with all of the same "I just stuck my gun through a wall and shot an enemy through another wall" bs, so it's not like they removed that and made it more difficult.
The UI is 100% designed for a controller, and they put basically no effort into properly making it work with mouse and keyboard. Sight lines and hit chances are completely nonsensical. And in addition to poor design in some areas, we've had 3 DLC and the game is still riddled with bugs.

Some of the UI problems you describe seem to happen with mods that haven't been updated for the controller support patch. By the way, XBox controller wasn't even supported when the game was released, just FYI. Other times, files have gotten a bit messed up because Steam isn't perfect, and verifying files fixes the problem.

If you had a soldier captured, that will lose you their equipment, which might be an explanation.

You don't get warned about which tiles will reveal you if you can't see the unit (Advent or civilian) that would spot you.

Flanking requires you to be on the same side of the cover as the enemy, though you get a small to hit bonus for approaching that angle.
