About WoTC-Ending <SPOILER>
Realizing, that there are already many posts about this topic, I ask nevertheless:

What was going on, when my Avatar entred the final chamber?

It's too long, since I played the vanilla game, so I don't rcall anything from the ending, I just know, that I was not as confused as I am now.

What I saw:

- Avatar entered final portal
- problems in my labratory, fixed by ... my Avatar's powers
- Avatar was immediately attacked by Elders and was busy to parry the blasts
- While attacking, the Elders were talking, but I didn't understand because of battle noise
- end; no exploding Elder, no exploding Avatar
- movies with the three factions
- game over

In one post here on the forum someone asked, if it was wrong to kill the Elders.
a) Was there a choice?
b) Why should they be spared?

So, please, would someone explain this ending-stuff en detail?

I don't know when or how. Lily shen says the elders won't take it lightly on the death of an elder. In the game the elders are slowly dying by something. Was it right to refuse the elders the cure of their disease by defeating their evil plan to consume every living organism on the planet. The elders says there's a larger threat and if we consider the fact the elders were outcast by their own race, them are acting the role of the overlords and them fear the overminds. Them shouldn't be spared because them aren't in search of a cure when the method isn't scientific possible to make strawberry juice out of humans and expect it to become cough medicine. It's only an attempt to rally humans against them so one day the aliens can start their endgame. At least the aliens aren't playing computer games. We were allowed to find the gate and it's speculated if Tygan accidentally killed the commander, but the commander was needed in the aliens plan.

So, even more confusing.

I really hope that there is a "big plan" to solve all the riddles in the next sequel (TftD?)

Its heavily implied tha tthe commander is a ethereal there are many different theories on it, but this one seems most logical imo.
