XCOM 2
Turn off Viper Kings?
Is there any way to turn off the Viper Kings? I don't mind hard things but the Viper kings are straight up cheaty getting 4 turns to even one of mine and they basically one shot everyone. There is litterally no defence or counter to them.

They showed up in like my 4th mission before I have access to any of that stuff. They're legit wiping my squad in 1 turn. And this is on easy.

In steam, disable the hunter's DLC. Alternatively, un-integrate the DLC in the game, and activate the hunters DLC, then never do the lab mission. Alternatively, Thats XCOM, baby.

Oh thanks goodness it can be turned off. I get that xcom is supposed to be hard but the Viper King was legit walking up to my squad then one shotting them all in like a turn and a half. Wish they'd fix ♥♥♥♥ like that.

well - to be fair, it aint broke. I know I have killed the viper king and worn his skin like a hat, and others have too. Sure the first time I met it I was all like - OMG - but they are very much so defeatable.

Sure in late game with a full squad and lots of gear. But in mission #4 with 4 poorly equipped dudes? Broken.

No, it isn't, because you have to adapt to what it is. It moves every time an XCOM soldier moves or attacks within their line of sight, so you have to plan for it.

A ranger in with Phantom or a Reaper in general, plus a Sharpshooter and some careful scouting and planning, that Viper King will be dead before it even sees the squad.

The mechnics are not broken, you have to adapt to the challenges presented. You have the tools you need, you just have to learn to use them correctly.

Lol no this is broken. If this was further on in the game or on a harder difficulity you'd have a point. This is barely out of the tutorial and the game is instant killing me with boss battles. But thankfully you can disable that DLC so that's what I did.

No. The alien ruler dlc is broken in all the worst ways. In the early game you get situations like this - more or less impossible fights. In the later parts of the game it's utterly cheesable. I've wiped out the rulers in a single attack each.

The problem here is that the fights are only reasonable if you're able to cheese them, and if you cheese them.. what's the point of having them?

broken? After my first campaing, where I was devasteted by them, I never have lost a Soldier to the Rulers. Tactics for the win..

And in WotC they are easier :)

That's my point. It's either impossibly difficult or you press the "I win" button and that's that.

The way it is does not work well.. thus, it is broken.

If you're underprepared then don't trigger it. Don't go on the ruler mission. They don't show up randomly.
Love Sick Chimp Nov 30, 2017 @ 4:36pm
Except they did. I tried to do the first black site mission and got Viper King killed. Tried another random mission and same thing. I had to start a new game without the alien hunter thing installed just so I wasn't throwing recruits at what is essentially a mid game boss.

You need to exit the game, go to the game's page on your steam library, and remove the checkmark for the DLC on the DLC list to completely disable it.
Bad news: your current save files will most likely no longer work. You will have to startover. It happened to me.

Viper King is probably harder than Berserker Queen that is true, but it's not actually that difficult. I chased away the Viper King with only ballistic gear multiple times. Probably would've killed him too if he didn't run away.

With mag weapons, you can kill him without even giving him a chance to move.

With plasma it's even easier.

Also you need to learn to read stuff before ticking/un ticking them. The explanation is clear enough on how to disable/enable the alien rulers
