Modular Weapons [Breakthrough]
Do the modular weapon breakthrough research projects count towards all of their weapon type, or only the current level of tech? The modular shotgun one just popped up extremely early on, and it allows for an additional upgrade slot. Does this apply to only the base shotgun or up to plasma tier as well, because at the moment it seems useless, but if it carries on throughout the game, this would be an incredible investment.

It applies for all shotgun-class weapons, regardless of tier.

Since upgrades stay on weapons even once upgraded I assume that it works for all tiers. But I cannot be sure.

It applies to all tiers. It's for a weapon class.
