Game crashing upon completion of covert ops
Anyone else having this issue? Just happened for the third time. Audio continues but the screen freezes on the result screen and I am forced to use the task manager to close the game.

I'm having the same issue. I just posted about it. When I use task manager to exit out of game I get a black screen.

Same here. Clean game, fix your PC and see if it still happens.

Go the usual way:
Disable Mods (sometimes better Cancel them to not having on disk)
Delete Config Folders
Verify Game Files via Steam
Dont have your Documents folders moved to different Place
Disable Antivir and Security Software
Reset Overclockings
and so on

Just happened a 4th time. No mods here since the dlc just made them all unavailable.

Sounds like the Avast issue:
It's freezing because the game is trying to read the headshot images from a folder where they don't exist. This issue is caused by Avast Ransomware Shield preventing images being written to \My Documents\My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Photobooth.

Assuming you use Avast, check the Ransomware settings and you'll probably see that it is protecting my docs in general. Allow images to be written to the above directory (or disable the shield at your risk) and it should fix it. It did for me and a bunch of others.

I don't use Avast, but I have noticed a couple times that headshot images have been replaced with little rainbow pixel placeholder icons, so you may be on the right track regardless.

Yea I used to get the "img:" rainbows too. Check if anything has been written to that photobooth area under your campaign number, and look in /Logs one directory up. If the photobooth area is blank and the logs are full of errors about reading headshot###.png then it's the same issue by another means.

Doesnt need to be avast. can be avira, bitdefender and so on too. Thats why i gave you List which you should try all of it. Im really not name all antivir and security software names. I mean you have to know whats running on your PC.
(and many just know how to push the Power button)
