War of the Chosen crash deleted savegame

This is so f*cking stupid. I bought the new WotC dlc and I love the content but it just crashed the fourth time. And this time it completely wiped my 4 hours in savegame. This is realy frustrating considering that I was 4 hours into the campain and played with Ironman and extra slow and careful.

I suspect the fact that it deleted my savegame had to do with the way the ironman mode works. It seams as if the mode deletes the files before saving again and not saving and then replacing which is extremely stupid. When the game crashed it was probably just done with deleting but not yet finished saving and so I am left with no traces of my savegame files. The only data left of my campain were the photobooth files.

So I ask: Did this happen to anyone else and what could I do about it? I mean considering how often the game crashes, I will for sure have another savegame-deleting crash at some point. The only way I can think of to prevent this is to take manual backups of the SaveDate directory after every mission or so but that would be extremely annoying.
Any thoughts or ideas?

Dude, I can't even play the game; it crashes before it even loads.

Happened to me for the second time today, this time it deleted a 10h C/I save.

If I'm going to try and play the campaign again I'm not going to play Ironman because of the bug.

same i have been trying w/o mods and with mods game crashes and cant load that save from since will crash always on that point.


Tested with ironman as well.

I'm having the same problem. no matter whether I plat with or without mods it seems to crash around May of my campaign. Then I have to delete my savegame and profile, then close the window on the taskbar for wotc, then start all over again. Does ANYBODY have any idea why this happens? Should i play the "non ironman" version? Any help and I'll be greatful. Thanks...

All of you, play honestman until one (or some) patches are out.

It is imo never good to play ironman on freshly released games.

I'll try playing non-ironman and no auto saves, see if that helps

So I see I wasn't the only one this happened to. Bad luck all around I suppose, I had just reached the point where victory was within reach, 2 chosen down, 1/2 the world on the resistance network, doom clock practically reset to start =(

This was the first crash I'd experienced on WOTC on iron man, I had beaten the campaign once on regular difficulty to see if there were any issues like these and it never happened once so I figured it'd be safe to go for it.

Guess it's honestman mode as phillip_lynx suggested until we know for certain its been fixed...
