game freezes war of the chosen

every time a covert mission finish after doing mission the whole game freezes and need to restart after restart its working again. but its just a anoying bug somebody has a solusion for it.????

OK, I had this too. Looking across the web, its a common problem. Your anivirus is preventing XCOM from writing soldier portrait images to a folder in "Documents". Are you using Avast by any chance? If so, open up the Ransomware Protection, and remove "Documents" from the list of protected folders.

If you don't use Avast, do whatever amounts to the same thing.

A lot of people are saying you then need to start a new campaign to ensure the problem is gone forever, but I did the following and everything seems to be cool:

Head to: ...\Documents\My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Photobooth\Campaign_1\HeadShots

That folder should be empty, which is the problem our antivirus is causing. When the game tries to open a Covert Ops mission screen, this is where it is looking for the soldier pictures.

Delete the "Photobooth" parent folder entirely.

Start up XCOM 2 again and load a saved game from the campaign that is bugging out.

The "Photobooth" folder will be remade and if all goes well, the "HeadShots" folder will now have a load of pictures of your soldiers.

Fixed?

I am playing on Xbox One, my ironmangame froze on the blacksite mission. But when i loaded it back up, only my vanilla xcom 2 saves show up. Am i screwed and have to replay WotC from the beginning? I was having an amazing game.

my game is freezing too in a mission, im playing ironman so my savegame is unplayble now

Same Problem here but it does not happen during a mission , only happens while scanning on the Avenger. Tried going back to old saves and deleting all photos etc. Nothing works. It always happens around the same point of the campaign on the avenger while scanning something. Not running any mods either . Everything is setup to run as administrator as I already had the file save problem in the past with the antivirus . 300gig free drive space .
The game works fine until you get far enough into the campaign and the same problem happens. It freezes and locks up the PC so you need to reboot to get out of it.
