WotC freezing

War of the Chosen keeps freezing regularly when I open the covert ops windows, be it completion of an op or getting new ops going. The game just freezes, but the music keeps going and I have to restart PC. After I load up the autosave (thank God for this feature) I can clear the covert stuff and continue playing, but when I have to do something again it freezes again. Anyone have any simmilar problems(or fixes)?

I lowered the graphics to no avail. I just need an answer is this mod related or an actual bug in the game.

Who has mods and who has no mods. What have those without any mods tried?

@OP: you don't have to restart PC. just Cnt-Alt-Del and use the task manager to shut the game down...Just as silly I know but quicker.

This is the exact problem I am having. I have no mods and lowered the graphics. Still freezes and I have to restart my computer as well.

this might sound stupid but go into nvidia control panel and make sure its using your graphics card and not onboard gpu.I saw on 2k forums that for some reason the game wasnt using correct gpu especally if you have sli.
Other thing is down grade your graphics driver to before July, I was getting crashes every 20mins or so I down graded driver to 384.xx and now it only crashes once every few hours.

Same problem as original post. I use task manager to force quit the game and steam. Works for a while until covert opps pops again.

Getting same issue, globe freezes mid scan on june 3rd 2035 every time, even when using ealier save almost month earlier once it hits june 3rd again it freezes.

Clearly they some kinda mission trigger or something, but its making inpossible to continue game, very fustrating.

Managed to get past it eventually, it was a gurilla ops trigger.

Way i fix it (might be chance) was at the time i was doing 2 contact scans at same time (was planning to activate them both at end of month.

After ealy reload i dedided to finish one scan properly before starting other, and it worked this time.

Same here. Tried all the suggestions, none work except restarting the game before the covert ops happens. But if I get ambushed the game will just freeze every time I reload and I have to start a new game.

I have to v erify files every two days either to stop a recurring crash when I try to move or to even get it to load in the 1st place.

Tried that and it didn't work. Still freezing but my day is May 30, 2035 . I sitll verifiy file integrity after every crash.

I let the 2K support know about this isue, and I'm glad to say that they helped me fix the geospace freeze problem. :) You have to go to your game install directory, and follow this path: "...\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\Binaries\Win64" and right click on the "XCom2.exe". Click on compatibility and select either the Windows 8.1 or 7, then save the changes, game should work just fine through the Steam. :)

Did't work here. The game freezes when scanning. I think a covert ops resolution is the cause. I'm on Legenday Ironman July 2 2035, no mods! Really looking forward for a fix!

I got rid of most of my non-voicepack mods and the game runs fine. I had to uninstall it and do a fresh install to my SSD too.
