edit: tried after using 1 and 2 screens, windowed and full window mode, changing resolution with no effect.
So I gave up on XCOM and moved on to trying to fix another issue with my computer, namely that I couldn't change the brightness.
Long story short, I fixed it by enabling my integrated graphics with Device Manager.
I then launched XCOM 2 and it worked perfectly.
If you guys need help with that I'll explain further and I'm sorry if this doesn't help.
Tell me! I have a Nivida graphics card by the way
1) Search Device Manager in the Cortana search box
You should be given a program that, when opened, gives a list of options including things like
"Batteries", "Bluetooth", "Computer" etc.
2) Open "Display adapaters"
If like me, you have integrated graphics and a video card, you should be presented with two options respectively.
3) Right click on your integrated graphics option and click Enable.
If this is already enabled or you do not have an integrated graphics option appearing I can't help you. I feel like this was a very specific problem but if it works for you then excellent!
thx i fixed too
btw my graphic card is 940mx
However, with me I`ve tried almost everything. Cleaned up and repasted the Cpu, took apart the GPU and added new arctic silver to that. Installed latest drivers, then the really old drivers. Even changed DP wire to HDMI. Eventually, it`ll crash to black screen needing a hard rest, then on restart I get black screen with cursor and Windows go crazy. I`ve never had a game that crashes like this than affects the rest of the computer as well.
I have only 2 possible options left now:
1. New graphics card.
2. New PSU.
3. Possible new Motherboard. Wait that`s 3 options!
I`ve ordered a new PSU since it`s the cheaper option and I have been a little worried about it`s wattage.
I had the same problem. XCOM 2 worked fine but WotC had a black screen.
I deleted the config files as suggested in a different thread (https://steamcommunity.com/app/268500/discussions/0/1643167006301923293/) but it did not work, however, I saw a glimpse of radeon software menu blurb from my graphics card, which happened for the first time.
I punched ALT+R to bring up the menu and the game window flickered and the game's main menu was brought up. After that I set up my graphics and had no problems further on.
So I had black screen, deleted the config files and started the game, the radeon software menu appeared, I entered it and it worked. I have Radeon HD 7700, if anyone's wondering.
Hope this helped someone, good luck.
