XCOM 2

No Second Wave options!!!
We were told and I purchsed the expansion on the understanding that the Second Wave options listed below were in the DLC, however this doesnt seem to be the case at all :(

At the beginning of any campaign, pick options like Damage Roulette,New Economy, Not Created Equally, Hidden Potential, Training Roulette, Save Scum, Aiming Angles, and doubling mission timers or even the avatar timer. Beta Strike gives all enemies and XCom more hitpoints, so you can't wipe out pods (or get wiped out) in a single turn.

The post and official review is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xcom/comments/6jv99b/eurogamer_112_new_things_in_xcom_2_war_of_the/djhi96v/

Have I been misled, do these options not come as part of the DLC? If so I'll be getting a refund.

Have you checked you are running WotC from the launcher? Because for me, second wave options were available right from the start.

There are options. I have double mission timer and double avatar progression. It's the option above the tutorial, reduced VO, and subtitles options when you start a new campaign. Opens a list of stuff you can do. There's not the same options like in Second Wave, but they are there.

Yes I'm definitly running it, but I'm only seeing a few options under the advanced options tab.

I'm not seeing ant options for Damage Roulette,New Economy, Not Created Equally, Hidden Potential, Training Roulette, Save Scum, Aiming Angles.

Those actually sound exactly like the options from Enemy Within, the expansion of XCOM Enemy Unknown. I don't think those are available in WotC, at least not from the start. Not sure if you unlock them once having played through the WotC campaign at least once. But I my guess is that those are not in the game.

Great, I've purchsed the game based on the fact that these options would be availible because in an interview with Xcoms Creative Director he told Eurogamer that these options were in the DLC :(

TotalBiscuit actually did an early look at the expansion back in august 16th and a lot of the new features were showcased there. I suggest you to look up for more information in the future and probably not pre-order/buy on day 1.
In the actual Eurogamer video they actually only list out the second wave options available in WotC (Beta Strike, extended timers). They never said that the old Second Wave options were coming to the game.

I did look up the info, thats the point. I suggest you read my post properly, I purchased the game based on the information that had been released on it.....

Namely here, skip to 15:10 in the video to see videos of the options I presumed would be in the DLC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpLcPIWqK18

Games evolve and change during the development, not everything you see from dev builds actually makes it in the final game, and they were probably changed due to balancing. Best you can do is wait for mods that add more options. Remember No Man's Sky? Yeah, don't believe everything that is just spoken about.

They do, however this video was posted on Jun 27, I would expect by then everything at that time should be almost set in stone.

Uhm, that video

a) mentions only the advanced options that are actually available. Yes, they use the screenshot of XCOM:EW but the ones he mentions are not those shown but those that are in the game (beta strike, ...)

b) is not an official video by the developers but just some dude talking about what he saw at E3

So, sorry, you have no leg to stand on here. If anything you can complain to the maker of that video.

Except that is xcom 1 footage. And the advanced options he do mention are in the game.

Either Eurogamer or whoever wrote this post on reddit assumed this would be in the game when that isn't the case (probably the guy on reddit, I don't remember seeing that on the video). Firaxis showed all the options in a livestream a few weeks ago and you can see it in any lets play first episode on youtube, this EU/EW second wave options where never announced by Firaxis.

Maybe after finishing a campaign? i remember in EU/EW you had to unlock those winning at least once? I don't know.

Plenty of videos/streaming have been shown in youtube/twicht about what options are available at start.

If you are not happy with your buy, request a refund.

How am I supposed to know the screenshots are of XCOM:EW , I've not played that DLC. Its extremly misleading putting it in with what I can now only assume is purely all WOTC footage.

No its not an official video, but Eurogamer is pretty well known and they sat down with the creative director in an interview with him!
