Discovered two of the relays after my first move into the transmitter direction, so no idea if they are supposed to be rare or anything.
My sniper was on relay duty and took them with his pistol out while trying to advance. Triggered the first pod on my second turn, this one went smooth. The second one on the other hand was tricky because reinforcement dropped on top of me (looks like one reinforcement is guaranteed, yay). I survived thanks to my ranger flanking two and some grenades.
The last pod was guarding the transmitter and i've almost lost thanks to them. A grenade to blow their cover and some praying to RNGesus (~70-80% shots) saved the day and i could plant the bomb on the last turn.
I'll definitly give the reaper approach a try if i encounter this mission type again. Thanks for the advice.
You have one guy with high movement run ahead - while the rest provide cover fire.
Even dashing on every turn, managing to "sneak" through all enemy patrols, I was still a few tiles off from the transmitter on 2 turns left. Had to dash a soldier into the open so she'd be able to plant the charges on the last turn; but guess what... there's enemies hiding there as usual: ded, mission fail, objective across the entire frickin map (don't even need to mention how hard it is to traverse the tunel map on such a mission) and very few nodes on the way, thank you for reintroducing these luck based missions, those are exactly what everyone loves -.- .
And this is coming from an I/L player btw.
PS: Make it like the trainyard map from XCOM:EU that had nodes literally EVERYWHERE, sometimes 5 tiles from one another. Now THAT... was fun.
As for turn limits is it to short remember you can activate double turn limit in adavance game options before starting.
I don't see anything that comes close to what is described and have tried to destroy 'generator like' terrain with grenades to see if that reduces the timer but to no avail.
You can see a relay to the left of the grenadier moving at the 2:14 mark. The player proceeds to destroy the relay on his next turn.
