Has war of the chosen added more dark events?
I like the idea of them, and I think that making the choice pf which is the lesser evil when countering them is a good mechanic, but the concept is spoiled by the constant Avatar Project Breakthroughs. The doomtrack fills at a reasonable pace as long as you're advancing the story and working to take down facilities, but the "Breakthroughs" throw the balance out the window. When it a choice of extra armour for Advent, a half-sized supply drop, or lose the game to the Avatar Project, the only option is prevent the latter every time. I'm not against them showing up occassionally, but it's rare that it's not one of the options every month. Later on, when you can reach a lot of the world to take down facilities, it's less of an issue. But for the first few months, when you don't have the coms to contact other regions, it's not uncommon for the track to rise by 4-6 pips per month if you ignore the breakthroughs, with the only option to lower it being the skulljacking and the blacksite goals. If they add more dark events to the pool, this shouldn't be such an issue.

I don't know, but I hope so.

I would think there will be some chosen and faction based ones.

FYI I would just suggest using the story based avatar reductions only when the doom counter has been triggered (or if you really want to exploit it, when it gets down to about 5 days, depending on your difficulty level). This should give you plenty of time to contact oither regions.

That and using radio towers to keep the intel costs down of contcating new regions. Finally IIRC facility leads that come through hacking (then researching) do NOT have to be contacted (ie via contacting the resistence in their region) in order to raid them. That always helps in a pinch.

Yes WotC is adding a lot of new Dark Events, I probably cannot remember them all off the top of my head but here are some.

Stiletto Rounds - Adds a bleeding effect to some ADVENT weapons.

Made Whole - Removes all weaknessess from the Chosen.

Loyalty among Thieves - Everytime a Chosen gets Knowlegde, the Hunter also gets some. (Also one for Warlock I think)

Lost World - Lost Swarms on every mission.

Signal Jamming - Increase all scanning for 6 weeks.

Gone to Ground - Closes Black Market for 6 weeks.

Undying Loyalty - ADVENT have a chance to reanimate as Psi Zombies when they die.

Barrier - Enemy tech and Psi (I think) defense doubled.

High Alert - No longer starts concealed.

ADVENT Sealed Armour - ADVENT becomes immune to fire, poison, acid and ice.

Lightning Reflex - Troopers gain Lightning Reflex.

Collateral Damage - Troopers gain extra grenades.

ADVENT Bending Reed - Stun Lancers gain an extra move after melee.

That's all the new ones I remember, some of the old Dark Events have instead become Chosen Activity I think but don't quote me on it.

On your Avatar woes in WotC it is possible to gain a Resistance Order that removes 1 Avatar progress every month and it is possible to do Covert Ops that reduce the Avatar Progress, finally Facility leads should help you get on top of that.

That is an impressive list of new dark events, thank you TradeGy. I would like to add that there is a new second wave option that makes all dark events permanent, so the question will not be about one half-sized supply drop, but about all of them being half-sized. That should make things more interesting.
