There's a second benefit to an early defence mission as well, some of your supply raids will be UFO raids instead after the base defence, which means more juicy hacking objective rewards.
Ah, I have tried to prioritize doing anti-UFO raid missions, but I guess I should not any more then! ;)
There's also some odd interaction with being able to heal people who enter wounded and curtail the rest of their wound timers.
+1 to getting ufo raids after defense mission, I had berserker queen and archon king hiding at the back inside of a ufo -.-
Cap in XCOM:EW was 1 XP less than the next rank after you level up.
I.E if it takes 100 to squaddie and 250 to corporal, a rookie can level up at most to 249 XP.
