[Help needed]Why can't this game forget about me?

I played the game well, with all DLCs and some mods until one of the mod became boring because it didn't worked well with controller support, so I decided to erase the mod and begin a new campaign.

Then in the new campaign I didn't have acces to DLC story content.

I first try to repair the game using steam cache verifying, and it didn't work.

I reinstall the game from scratch and still it doesn't work.

I read a little on forums and saw it could be a mod problem, so I try to erase the mod one by one and test each time if I had acces to DLC story content (by checking if I could not access to DLC weapons), and trust me, I lost a whole lot of time on this.
And it didn't work.

Becoming a little angry, I unlinked my 2k accound, then uninstalled the game, then manually erased everything in my "my document" folder, and only then reinstalled the game.

But when I reinstalled the game, it knew I already played it: it doesn't have initiation checked, it was already on controlled control and had the options set the way I put them before.

I'm almost sure that if I go thu the boring start again, i'll discover that once again, even if the DLCs box are checked, I won't have access to their story content.

So what did I do wrong?
Why can't I let the game think it's my first time on it, so it could work the way it did on my first campaign?

The game is on your steam account. You still got all your achievements right? How far into game did you play?

Which DLC story content is missing for you? There's some non DLC story content that is triggered by choosing the tutorial option (which I think might be enabled by default first time you play), that couldn't be it could it?

Hard to tell. I already played alien hunter intro mission, killed the serpend king and almost killed the berserker queen, had about half of the planet contacted, and played the shen's last gift mission and get the Spark.

No it isn"t.

Missing DLC story contente is the mission where you discover how the Alien Hinter DLC boss were created and the Lission where you disciver the Skark and fight against an AI which wants it to become it's bod.

I can't play those two anymore..

Isn't there a .ini hidden somewhere I could delete/edit/remplace to make the game new and working again?

Best anser I can give: Yes. I read something like that before. Sadly I can't say which file it is.

Everything I know of:
- C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\my games\XCOM2
- C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\FiraxisLive (no idea what this is)
- The game files wherever you put your steam library.

Reading your OP seems like you've gotten the two important locations. The FiraxisLive is probably some multiplayer thign or whatever. No idea. I have no other Firaxis stuff so that must be from XCOM2 as well.

That's exactly the reason I don't understand what's happening?
How can the game remember me when I even manually erase averything about it of my PC?
It's just completely nuts!

I finally found what broke my game: Steam Cloud was keeping the file(s) which broke my game, so desactivating it then uninstall/install the game makes it working again.

I wish we could erase Steam Cloud files.
