The game is a dumpster fire, and im glad its falling on its ass, after they took exclusive money from Epic

roll on Xcom 3
I'd love to see the game fail for its backstabbing and incompetence to even add half the promised features and models. And the change of artstyle.
But it kinda seems like the game is doing fairly okay. Either that or they're using epics money to bribe some youtubers
This whole thread is an excellent example of why I couldn't give two ♥♥♥♥♥ less what backers have to say about any games, which they almost invariably seem to turn on and trash despite being excellent. Somehow, they never trashed Pillars of Eternity, which was one of the most frustrating, tedious, bugged, and underwhelming crpgs I've ever played, and for that matter was ruined by backers themselves with the notorious gold NPC spam.

Meanwhile I heard Tides of Numenera and Wasteland 2 get totally trashed and those are two of my top ten favorite games of the decade I've played so far, yet you go onto old forums and there's just pissing and moaning from backers about how terrible the game is for god knows what reason.

So to reiterate: I am glad that I almost never buy any games new. I am glad that I wait until a bunch of constantly enraged spastics shot some QA and paid to do beta testing for a couple years for me so I can then buy the game completely fixed, patched, with content added, and sold at a fraction of the cost it was on release. I also am glad that this is the first time I actually had to hear whinging from backers in ages and it only happened because I paid attention to a thread on a totally different game hoping to hear more about when the game was releasing and what it's like.

I'll now proceed to unsubscribe from this thread and blithely ignore the absolute state of buttmad a bunch of backers whose opinions I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about while the hype dies down and I can purchase and greatly enjoy this game in the future.
According to this video Epic refunded a lot of PP copies.

Don't go into forums if you can't stand other people opinions.

PS: I'm a PP backer and I find PP to be a horrible mess, so deal with it.
Phoenix points has it's problems and has only had one hotfix so far with a larger patch in bound.
But, this game is Mega addictive. The base game being made in such a way it is your ultimate 'just one more turn' game. a born classic.
Everything they fix or add to the game just makes this gem shine brighter.

Phoenix point sucks compared to this game, makes a person appreciate jake, I can see why they went with epic games because it would be getting refunded on steam. pretty disappointed with it.

No it doesn't suck at all. Why would you say that. I have put over 500 hours into Xcom 2 and I'm not a fan-boy of the game but a fan-boy of the genre. There is no need to protect one over another. If you are talking about bugs and stuff then remember Xcom at birth.
You have probably never played it seeing as you don't seem to know that Epic also has a refund policy.

You don't have to play a game these days to know whats wrong about it. All you need is to have experience with this types of games to be able determine whenever game is to your liking or not by watching gameplay videos.

And to me considering the whole development process being showed by backers build videos and in how much half-assed state the game was released I just can't see any hope for this game.

That's waaaaaay too subjective, to be honest.
But i agree with this one.

If we talk about comparison, then we have XCOM EU/2, which gave this genre new life and Xenonauts, which is modernised predecessor.

Phoenix trying to be bouth and also be "next step" at the same time.
But failed at many aspects and became this mess, with no clear focus.

Cant believe they thought one enemy type only was a good idea.

Technically speaking there is more than one enemy type in the game and probably you mean if there put so much effort in procedurally generated enemies(so called evolution of body parts to counter your favourite attacks points) why it feels like you fight against the same generic foot soldier.

And the reason for that is raher simple. All of the so called evolving enemies are countered with probably the most OP and IMBA element of the game. Namely the FPP aiming which basically negates enemies upgrades. And is clear as day they spend so much of development time on those two aspects that they neglected the rest.

that was talking about missions that only have one enemy type. They might vary slightly between missions but once in those scavenge missions most often it just one enemy type
I'm a backer and I am enjoying the game.

Needs work and tweaking but i've played much worse gamnes at release (yes, I know, that isn't really a positive but it's true).

Now I have gotten out of my xcom thinking it's more fun that it was at first.

As I say, still needs work and I guess I'll only go through it once until the DLCs start coming out.
One enemy type? What are you talking about?

He talks about missions that spawn only one type of pandoran and all are the same type with no variations.

scavenge missions. 75% ish of them only have one type of unit. the crabman. Wouldnt be so bad if it was 3 types of crabmen with different loadouts. Mission type gets boring very quickly

As it stands at most you can get 6 enemies in mission if your facing teh queen. Vs a lair 5. But could so easily of been more. Imagine instead of just facing one type of crabman you faced 2 or 3. e.g. pincer and shield another version that was equipped with machine gun and organic launcher

To me the absolute worst game in style of XCOM turn based or real time based is Abomination: the nemesis project. Seriously this game made me appreciate UFO: Aftermath so much more.

I haven't even heard of Abomination :-)

The UFO after-series of games were also ok.
I try to take each on it's own merits and not judge too much based on the others.

Having said that, PP needs customizable weapons and different types of ammo....
I find the assortment of creatures and people fine as enemy's. 55 hours and I have never for once thought that the enemy is of one type, plus the future DLC will most likely be introducing many more.
Also think about it. The crab men go though many changes, very subtle but there none the less.
I think most of the hate generated for The Phoenix Point is simply because it's sold exclusively on Epic, which is pathetic.
To trash a game for being on a different storefront is beyond silly. To trash a great game because it's on a different store front is sacrilege.

When it finally come to steam you will be lapping it up, telling the world how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good it is.
Honestly they want to keep the game on Epic indefinitely. You don't deserve it.
