Long War 2 - Possible to modify a saved game?
So long story short.... I've got this beautiful Long War 2 game that I've invested well over a month (so many missions), built up characters, freed a few countries, etc... but I got to a point in the game where there must be a bunch of facilities I haven't discovered because the Advent countdown clock just ticked through about 10 cycles in less than a month.

I'd like to salvage my game if possible (I don't think I have another LW2 round in me) but the DefaultGame.ini AlienHeadquarters.DoomStartValue parameter only sets the default value for new games (not existing ones).

Once you are in game are you just stuck with whatever initialization parameters you originally set? Or does anyone know of a modkit for save files or a separate .ini that would let me actually change some in game parameters to attempt to salvage an existing game?

i don't think you can modify the save itself but you likely can mod things out ingame

the command console is your friend. basically, every event that happens ingame can be manually triggered there.

Awesome!! Thanks Zyrrashijn!! I got this to work. You seriously just saved my game! (I was ready to give up on Xcom2). I referred to the following links to get this going:

For console setup:

For actual edit commands in game:

So to fix my advent doom clock issue, I did the following:

1) I went into steam properties and added the following under Set Launch Commands:

-allowconsole

2) Then I went into my savegame and opened the console by hitting the tilde "~" button

3) In the console, I reduced the Doom Counter with the following command:

RemoveFortressDoom 10
