The world history and social events from the 1960s to the late 1990s have created countless wonderful movies. For example, the French New Wave, the American New Wave, the US-Soviet Space Race, the Vietnam War that profoundly changed American society and Hollywood, the emergence of the Internet and VHS, the golden age of rock music, the popularity of cult horror movies, the wave of democratization in Eastern Europe and the collapse of the Soviet Union. The last three decades of the 20th century are really unforgettable.
Movies help us remember both ourselves and our era.
