If you sprint at a diagonal direction toward his left when he runs at you you might be able to dodge his attacks. Best advice? Don't hold back. I did and that is why that boss was the hardest for me. Go ahead and unload on him with your best ammo and don't worry about conservation for this boss. Once I quit holding back he went down on the first reattempt.

Thinking the hell I'm going through on Nightmare atm I keep thinking ahead to how the garage boss on Akumu would play out. How to even get past that because if you go in the rooms he'll grab you and it's game over.

I have to wonder if the bosses such as Laura etc.. are more vicious on Nightmare and Akumu?

For Laura it help to hit her with incendiary bolts, use the valves to dowse her in fire. Just stay far enough away that she can't jump you since it's a one hit kill. The garage boss I used freeze bolts, explosive bolts, shotgun and rifle. You can hide under cars then pop him some when you get out. Freeze bolts to slow him down and damage him, syringes in case you get hit.

I started playing Akumu up to chapter 6 before realising I just wasn't having any fun. I've beaten TEW twice in Nightmare now (had to re-do it because of a corrupted profile), once without any keys and I think that's enough for me - unlocked all the weapons including the Brass Knuckles so it's time to sit back and wait for the DLC.

The bosses are tough in Nightmare and I can only assume are much worse in Akumu. Laura may be the exception since she's a one-hit kill anyway - I killed her in chapter 10 on Nightmare to get her key and that was a stressful battle - if you run instead it's a lot easier.

The big guy in the garage

he is doable ! Every boss in this game is doable and you need to get creative with them ! Even with Laura. The Amalgam Alpha or Garage boss is easy, even on Akumu, you just need to know what to do, you can even take out Laura with a few matches and two ice bolts and using the furnace to your full advantage, i did it on Akumu and once I knew her spawn points and when to light up the matches on the bodies she became actually quite easy.

As for the Amalgam Alpha...

This is what you need to do and I killed him on the second try on Akumu with that strategy !

Here are some tips, it will still require some skill but be aware of those things and you will win even on Akumu without any upgrades and without much ammo !

- first off relax and dont worry about ammunition, there is tons of ammunition all over the garage and in both store rooms, so dont worry about ammo at all, I went in completely naked and only with 3 sniper bullets and 2 grenades and 1 explosive bolt I crafted.

- he cant see you when you are behind a pillar (he uses his tail eye to spot you), snipe his eye with the sniper rifle carefully around the pillar, this should bring him down instantly

-throw both your grenades at him when he is down and run across the garage to the other room (not the room behind him, the second room to your left all the way back there)

-quickly loot everything from that room because it will get destroyed once the alpha arrives, when he does arrive stay at the back of the room and pump all your shotgun ammo and explosive bolts into him (dont worry he cant reach you while you are inside and at the back of the room, just shoot and be aware)

-when he has enough he will step back to make a frontal attack (you will notice this immediately), just simply run out of the room quickly and let him destroy the room

-now quickly run to the the other room (the one at the beginning where he spawns) and do exactly the same as you did before (collect everything from the room and shoot him with everything you got once he reaches with his arm after you)

-by the time he destroys the second room he should be enough damaged that he will change to his second form, now things will get a little bite more dangerous because there is no more sure cover and you cant hide because he will know where you are.

-now all you need to do is run around him and shoot everything you have at him, I suggest you stick to the middle portion of the garage and time your moments when you run past him.
Be careful and shoot everything you have at him, if you have 3-4 sniper bullets, fire them all at him and use all grenades and shotgun ammo you have. This is where you will need to proove your skill in in aiming and movement !

-he went down after 4 shotgun blasts, one explosive bolt and 2 sniper rounds on Akumu for me and I wasnt even breaking a sweat and was expepcting more from his second form xD

the key is do as much damage as fast as you can when he is in his second form as failures or missfires will kill you, just dont get stressed or scared by his apearance and learn his movements and you will down him good.

Good luck everyone ^^ I will post the fight to the Akumu guide in this section once I am done encoding, cheers !

its an easy one just move around and use explosives grenades and explosive bolts. Maybe freeze + harpoon if you are out of explosives.

chapter 6 is the breaking point in Akumu xD Especially the two rooms battle, I have refined a bulletproof strategy on how to kite all the zombies on both rooms but it still requires some skill. Its insanely how hard that section is... and Joseph takes forever to oepn the doors, he even mocks you in the second room he says "if you have time to complain" good god.... thats the worst section in the game and it will get you killed on Akumu xD On Akumu I noticed the bosses dont have more health but they are faster and they instakill you of course. Laura is so fast, if you stop running you will just die !

I usually have little to no ammo when I go into fights and I will tell you all bosses are beatable using the enviornment and or their weapons against them. Like box head in the poison rooms, I had one grenade and one harpoon bolt going into that fight. With tenacity and brains I did it.
AlucarD Dec 24, 2014 @ 12:02am
you only have to beat box head twice, you can avoid him the rest of the time in that poison room, it will get interesting on Akumu chapter 13 where you have to fight him three times in the meat room and there is a spinning blade circulating on the floor xD not fun at all. The hardest boss in the game on Akumu IMHO is the Quell that MF took 3 grenades, 8 shotgun blasts to the face and 10 magnum bullets to the face till he went down, wow thats a lot of damage he can take, and I had to freeze him in place with electro and freeze bolts. He wont stand still and he sends leeches after you that kill you in one hit... god I hate those so much, I had him cornerd once and then a leech jumps me fom behind, instadeath xD

Hardest bosses on Akuma have to be the large demon hound and The Quell.
