Chapter 6 is the trial by fire. IF you can beat it... nothing will stop you.

I think I can't, I tried several ways to pass through it, but that burning house is just insane, I guess that I will need more than just one flash bolt to beat it, which I don't have

You really need specific upgrades for Akumu. Well, technically you don't need any at all as there are some out there who have beaten the game on Akumu with no keys and no upgrades... but my balls aren't that huge. Upgraded flash bolts are absolute life savers and they made that burning house section doable for me. Fully upgrading the harpoon so it does fire damage was a massive help in the game and it was completely worth that 50,000 gel. Level 3 or 4 sprint is very handy. Anything involving health or syringes is a complete waste. Some people warn about upgrading explosives or grenade capacity but I found the grenades to be extremely handy in certain areas. Don't bother building new incendiary or poison bolts if you preordered the game. I find them cool, but they just aren't worth the 5 part price in Akumu mode. The freeze bolts are actually worth upgrading a bit as you can find some during gameplay.

If you do give up... I don't blame you. I died over 250 times in Akumu mode before I finally beat it. A guy who beat Akumu without upgrades or keys says he died over 700 times. I loved the challenge myself, but Chapter 6 and chapter 12 had some of the most hair pulling moments. Electric bolts saved the day in chap 12.

Thanks for the tips! I didn't improved Sebastian's health and the syringe's recovery, it's clearly a total waste, I focused more on upgrading the sprint time and some of the weapons attributes, now I'll start a new game on Akumu and invest more on the bolts that you mentioned

hello from MÉXICO CITY DF i finish my game in AKUMU MODE yesterday, the chapter 6 is very hard at the beginnig of chapter with many zombies, after 30 deaths i beat the zombies very easy with the Blind bolts and make more bolts until the doors open. VIVA MEXICO CABRONES.

its doable ! Chapter 6 will decide if you can take on the Akumu challenge or not :D If you can pass that second room by kiting around those damn zombies, nothing in this game will ever scare you xD I was stuck on that part for 6 hours :| and I was doing a no upgrades no keys run and the Chapter 10 boss is sctually also quite doable, just run away from Laura and blast the Alpha Amalgam with the shotgun and craft explosive bolts, there is a sure way to do it, one I finish my run I will post a bullet proof strategy on how to beat this hardcore game on Akumu without upgrades and without using keys, cheers.

It's ok some people are just bad at gaming. Just lower the level if you need but Akumu is a walk in the park so I'm sure you won't have to

^ says someone who hasn't beaten it on Akumu yet.

If you have trouble with any sections, check out this guy's walkthrough. Akumu, no keys used, no upgrades bought.

He's rather enjoyable to watch, except when he goes on some dumb tangent. I had to stop listening and mute the sound when he spent about 10 minutes complaining about people who complain about their work with friends.

Yeah i ran into the same problem, the lack of a checkpoint between the two doors is frustrating, i knew that going into Akumu mode since i beat the game on survival first, i appreciate a challenge, and the game was plenty challenging, but it was not designed around 1 hit deaths, these parts really exasperbate the problems of the game (like hit detection) and was really frustrating, i'm taking a break now, i like AKumu fine, but it isn't worth doing it with the no gel uprgrades achievement, thats a lot of trial and error and that isn't as fun.

Maybe i'll get lucky to kill the baddies in such a way that Joeseph will finally open that second freaking door.

If anyones still doing this, the only thing i've seen that helps is the baddies are on timers, if you can kill them before the next wave, then you'll have a few seconds to reload and reposition, kiting i found is hard in the small room and if you aren't killing the baddies you'll get swarmed.

Oh, and be careful about the explosive barrels, even if you aren't near them they still may light you on fire, i've experienced that quite a bit and its really frustrating.

I stopped my run only on chapter 4 (5?) when you get dropped into the flooded room that Ruvik seals you into with swarms of Haunted and the first "Ruvik clone". Something always slips a slap in between my reloading, or sneezes on me while making my way to the back room for ease of dispatching enemies as they enter the single door.

Flash bolts are your friend. Although if you guys are struggling that early you are going to hate the bus and the construction site later.

Well I've just beaten chapter 6 on akumu today and I gotta say it was pretty damn hard until I decided not to care about my trap parts and used like 6-7 flash bolts in this section, without them it is nearly impossible. Im on chapter 10 now and died also a lot by little mistakes and I feel like give it a chance tomorrow. But yeah, i progressed 4 chapters during the time i needed to beat those checkpoints in chapter 2 and chapter 6 and im sure I will suffer alot still.
