Is Akumu really that hard ? :|
I mean I am used to some real hardcoreness like Ninja Gaiden Black on master or MGS2 on European Extreme or Dead Space 2-3 on hardcore which I though were incredible hard if you ever tried it. So how does Akumu compares to these, anyone tried ? I am currently on chapter 8 on survival and so far yeah I died a good amount of times but nothing out of the world like Dead Space 2-3 but on Akumu I heard you get killed in one hit even by stray spark lol as I was watching Seraphims walkthrough and even he said chapter 6 is the breaking point of Akumu.... so any thoughts ?

There's harder stuff but yeah. Everything gets you killed. You really have to try it yourself to see what they changed and how the gameplay changes when playing on that difficulty.

Survival is nothing in comparison and you're just a bit more then half trough the game.

It's not just harder and more enemies plus one hit kills(even from the bottle that joseph throws when you get his glasses) and less ammo. It's much more.

okay thanks for the heads up :D I am actually looking forward for Akumu as I truly enjoy a hard challenge but if the difficulty is bound to BS rules then it will get me frustrated probably :( and it seems fighting the camera is one of those BS rules in this game as well as matches hit detection...

If you want a good practice run for Akumu you may want to play throught Nightmare difficulty first. Everything (as far as I know) is the same between Nightmare & Akumu difficulty with the exception that a single hit kills in Akumu.

I disagree. Go straight to Akumu. I'm on chapter 11, almost done.

It's hard, but the unpredictability is the worst. And the BS, of course. Shots that "miss". Bolts that " miss". Enemies that dance-dodge, get up in 0.01s and "hit" you. Axes that defy physics and "hit" you. Uh.

only if you suck at gaming

surprisingly its not "that" hard but there is a brutal choke point in chapter 6 which will almost stop you dead in your tracks, that point is the two room battle in the burning house and if you manage to survive that you can finish Akumu even with no upgrades, currently in chapter 9 on Akumu and its smooth sailling as long as you know what to do, the next part I am afraid of will be the trolley ride... and the quell boss aside from that its doable ! Ninja Gaiden on Master or Metal gear Solid 2 on European Extreme drove me almost to madness but even those were doable, cheers !

Its challenging yeah but imo its definitely not in the level of Ninja Gaiden Black, Battletoads, Dark Souls, Castlevania, etc lol.

good god Battletoads..... the horrors... the horrors... =)) Surprisingly I found Dark Souls pretty straight forward and not as hard o_O I believe if you play Dark Souls, following a well written guide its a piece of cake actually but in Ninja Gaiden Black no guide will save you... you either can do the Izuna Drop move or you die simply as that XDD the first boss kills you in 2 hits and I needed to walljump him to death :( Alma is a nightmare without enough fire nimpo and there is so much more :| but its "fair-hard" you are always in control of the character. In TEW I encountered BS like match glitches. I walk to the zombie, light the match and nothing happens :| he stands up and kills me :( also I reloaded chapter 6 so many times and there is a checkpoint in the first room the zombie will throw his axe at you instakill you :| happens on some reloads... also other weird movements sebastian does... see this is BS.

On akumu mode you will notice all glitches, because you die in one hit every wrong move you do, kills you. Another BS is that zombies get stunned only if you throw bottles at their head, WHYY I remember this was no issue in RE4 but here get ready for frustration, and another problem is the zombie will come running straight at you, you cant see the whole blue trajectory line of the bottle because of the wide camera angle and black letterboxes, you dont have invincible frames in this game so... you either hit him with the bottle exactly on the head or you die ! You cant recover from the throwing animation and if you miss the throw, the zombie will kill you ! Thats BS right there ! I enjoy challening games but when the challenge is bound to stuff like that it just kills the fun. In Ninja Gaiden Black you are always in control, ALWAYS ! As long as you know the button combos, Ryu will always prform the moves no questions asked ! Here sometimes I have the feeling as I am batteling the controls and the game as matches wont burn zombies somtimes and picking up stuff from the floor is a gamble without invincible frames.

Listing Dark Souls and Battletoads in the same sentence is almost blasphemy. Dark Souls isn't that hard, it just requires practice. Battletoads on the otherhand is unmitigated evil. Thank god akumu is difficult, but not nearly that brutal.

I believe Akumu is a little bit broken in its difficulty spike, I mean chapter 2-3 will hit you like a brick wall if you aint good in combat, which brings me to this games main problem ! The Combat is broken and especially the match burning mechanic, I cant describe just how many times I walked to a corpse and tried to set it on fire and it just didnt do anything :\ then the corpse moved and instakilled me... see thats broken ! Also the hit detection on the pistol is VERY bad. I dont know if its intentional or not but you will feel the pain on Akumu...

Battletoads and Silver Surfer are just out of this world hard for all the bad reasons but mostly due to very bad game design. Dark Souls is easy because you can just speedrun to the good gear at the beginning of the game and bypass a lot of BS. Ninja Gaiden Black is hard because you have to master the moves but once you do, you will own the enemies in that game, same goes to Devil may Cry 3 which I found way, way harder on Dante Must Die than Ninja Gaiden Black on Master.

Resident Evil 4 on professional is almost a joke compared to this on Akumu XD

The only game that comes close to this in its sheer scope of hardcoreness is dead space 2-3 on hardcore.... omfg especially dead Space 2 with its 3 saves and instakills.

The hit detection on the weapons is fine, the issue is just the accuracy. Without upgrades the bullet sometimes comes out at an angle almost.

As for the burning mechanic yeah the fire 'hitboxes' are pretty awful. Had 3 crawling AlterEgo on top of eachother, lit one and only two burned up.

and I am not joking, chapter 6 will break people :| on Akumu (no upgrades run or not) ! Remember that line from Dolph Lundgren in Rocky where he says "I must break you" well thats TEW Akumu mode chapter 6 for you guys XDD That chapter will divide the casual people from the hardcore maniacs like me lol people who survived that 20 Metal gear Rays fight in MGS2 on european extreme will understand xD but all fun aside, its just freakin hard there is no fun to be had there in chapter 6 at the beginning :(

Chapter 11 and 12 actually gave me a harder time than 6. 6 is just an exercise in kiting and taking quick shots. The construction site was an exercise in aggravation, and the bus ride was hell (unless you do a lot of damage quickly to the spider-thing before he can use some attacks which are awful to try and dodge).

that second room in chapter 6 is insane o_O how did you pass it ? I even tried using flash bolts but they just went out, then I panicked and ran in circles doing my best till I heard the click on the door,my heart almost stopped because one wrong thumbstick move and a zombie would get me,and you must carefully apply the sprint on no upgrades run because if you run too fast you will stop. And stopping means dying in those close quarter. I watched Seraphims excellent Akumu mode guide and even he had immense problems with that chapter so its no joke. I am currently on chapter 9 and so far its all good.I think for there on in it will get hard especially the chapter in the city with those swat zombies omfg not looking forward to that and dualkeeper fight I am scared of XD aside from that I am willing to do it !

The secret to the beginning of chapter 6 is running in circles around the edge of the rooms, with the occasional flash-bolt if you feel like you're going to be overwhelmed.
