Did Sebastian kill SPOILER?
During the final chapter, it starts with a first person perspective from tank CB-201 looking at Kidman. After a moment Sebastian comes and seemingly shoots himself. Later in the chapter when you go up the elevator and you are standing above the glass looking down on the tanks we see that tank CB-201 is actually occupied by Dr. Jimenez.

I have a theory... what if the people... including Sebastian are uploaded copies of themselves? This would explain how we have a Kidman within Stem while a Kidman is seemingly watching over the people in the tanks. What if the real Sebastian is an operative for the company, just as Kidman is but they upload versions of themselves and what we got at the start of chapter 15 was in fact the real Sebastian killing Dr. Jimenez? Also, when you go through the water trough/tank area there are numbers flashing above the doorway... do they mean anything?

This also doesn't really explain how Sebastian is seemingly in the real world at the end which kind of dismisses this theory.

This game hurts my brain... in a good way.

EDIT: I'm certain I'm not the first person who noticed this and I'm sorry if I'm repeating something already posted in the various threads about whats really going on.

Whoa... I haven't heard any theories like this yet. Damn, I need to start another playthrough so I can check some of these details out. This is confusing but cool as hell...

I just realised that too with jimenez laying in your tank as you walk above joseph, jimenez, leslie and yourself at the end after that cutscene.

Something else i wonder additionally to all the other ''plot holes''

Why does sebastians missing poster only come up at the beginning of NG+?

hmm

what if

NG+ is canon

I'll leave you all to think of the rest of the potential implications yourselves

well it would explain why his missing poster only appears in NG+, but whether those poster appearances were ever canon who knows

I've wondered that myself. I've personally ignored them more as collectible character portraits instead of being actual reports on what happened to the people. If they are in fact legit that means the entire intro was also within a STEM machine. Its something people have suggested a number of times but I've personally always assumed everything up until Sebastian was ambushed by Ruvik in the security room was the real world.

the intro doesn't make sense WITHOUT being in STEM, Ruvik was a brain in a jar since before that even occured! Unless you're suggesting he has the power to walk around in the real world doing supernatural stuff in which case why does he even need Leslie or to do anything in STEM at all.

There was a memo early on talking about them activating STEM. My interpretation was that he could project himself into the real world, but he was extremely limited in range. That would explain why the bodies are there when Seb finally wakes up for realzies. Unless its either an oversight or Sebastian is still in STEM. With that said there is certainly evidence that everything from the start is in STEM. For instance it would explain the complete lack of people on the street or even within vehicles on the drive up to the Asylum.

TBH it's probably just BS writer vaguary so they can take it either way in a sequel

either sebastian was in stem from the start and still is at the end

or ruvik has powers in the real world which explains the noise when he sees "leslie" walking off and nobody else can see him

PROBABLY the government trying out new mind control for war lay in a tank hooked to machine and just go out of body do ur thing; was leslie the final power kick for ruvik and is that why kidman wanted him dead; if she wanted all this why kill the kid who willingly went to ruvik;
princess 2014年11月17日 21時04分
hell, the more u think the worse it gets; ok, what happened to kidman at the end she gave orders that some were to go and kinda told seb to close his eyes play dead leaving them behind; who did she take out of there; and why was she never ever effected; roberts had a change, dr died of frieght;seb had headachs but never her; and if that was leslie leaving how come; ruvik turned him to water to power the brain so is ruvik leslie or is lesie ruvik; and in one ghost cut scene the dr was talking to a burned youngster; but ruvik didnt seem young but leslie did and what was in his bathtub with his name plate; it looked like a napsack; to much tinking;;;;;

Leslie and Ruvik are two seperate people. Leslie is apparently the only one to have survived prior experiments with the STEM. The burned youngster was a memory of Ruviks viewed by Sebastian, apparently he was able to see this due to being hooked up to the STEM and therefore...could see some of Ruviks memories.

The burned boy is Ruvik in his past. Ruvik simply wants out of the STEM. Leslie posessed some kind of trait that made him compatible for Ruvik to transfer into his mind...taking Leslie over in the end. So at the end of the game, Leslie's mind is overpowered by Ruviks and Ruvik now controls Leslie. At least, this seems to be the general understanding.

we don't know that nobody else has survived, rather he was stated to be the only one who has ESCAPED out of STEM

Ah, fair point. I could have worded that better I suppose.

thats ok they didn't even tell us how he escaped or why it didn't work to get the rest of us out :C

I also have to wonder if the zombification is reversible, ie if you had kept the uniform cop alive at the start and he didn't die elsewhere, would he have gone back to normal upon beating ruvik even though he had been taken over?

and either we're still stuck in STEM, or ruvik has IRL superpowers which he can now take anywhere in leslies body :/
