Changing resolution causes smaller screen?
Just want to know if this is normal. I was looking for a less sharper looking full-screen image rather than a scaled down image... for higher FPS, can barely keep 30FPS.

I'm running:
Cpu: Intel i7-3630QM
Gpu: GeForce GTX 675m 2GB
Ram: 12GB

This has probably to do with your scaling settings in Nvidia Control Panel. You might have it set to "No scaling" which means in resolutions lower than your native resolution the game will just show you a smaller screen instead of a stretch lower resolution. This is my guess anyway's

Go to Nvidia Control Panel and fix it. Right click desktop - Nvidia Control Panel - Adust desktop size and position. First try setting it to "Full-screen" and check "Override scaling mode set by games and programs", apply and give it a try. I think this should force the game to fullscreen lower resolutions now instead of a tiny image. If that doesn't work try force aspect ratio instead of maybe unchecking the override scaling mode, etc. I'm almost certain messing with this will fix the problem. I've used the settings before when I had a lower performance PC and didn't want to stretch out low resolutions, I used it to make games tiny screen so not so stretched out lol.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
However, I can't find this option, sadly. I can only change some color options for my screen in the control panel, and some video display stuff:

Any other way to do this? :P

Oh you're on a laptop, hybrid setup with an Intel HD graphics chipset most likely. Your scaling options are most likely in your Intel HD control panel then.

Open your "Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel" - Display - General settings
Now set the resolution lower than your native resolution ,or to whatever resolution you want to set your game at. Then a "Scaling" option will appear, choose "Scale full-Screen" and apply.

Now running the game at that lower resolution you want should stretch the image out instead of having it be a tiny screen.

But before you do all that. It seems to me that the game could be trying to use your Intel HD chipset instead of your dedicated graphics card, which is not good. To fix that just go to
Nvidia Control Panel - Manage 3d settings - Global settings - Changed Preferred Graphics Processor to "High Performance Nvidia Processor", a restart might be needed after. If that doesn't work then go deeper and instead go to "Program settings" - Find Evil Within profile (Make one if its not there and point it to executable located in install dir) - And change it to High Performance Nvidia Processor in the profile and apply.

I'm having the same problem with GTA V and when I do the Intel thing, I change it to 1600x900 and it makes my whole computer like that. Is there a way to do this for just GTA V? I'm also on a laptop.

IDk but for me if I change the resolution to 1050P it becomes smaller, but when I change to 900P it is full screen, just a little blurry...

If you have a intel or any other grapics card try Override Application Settings in dsiplay where scaling is you now be able in game itself to run low res at full screen

Hey, it worked for me! Thanks :D

This started once I moved to my new place. But, in your video card software, not the windows display properties there's a cogwheel for options, there in display you can find GPU scaling, and set to full panel. In my TV I found also in settings, display the options to show in full screen. Maddeningly any lower resolutions work for a minute, then revert. No warning if I want to keep or not. For now I've found that wide zoom on my TV shoots the 4:3 movies cast via HDMI from my PC just right. Some controls I can only get to in minimized video. But it does work.
