hig graphics 50 - 45 fps with a good end pc. Low graphics 50-47 fps. When i take the bars away under 40 (35 fps). Its the worst port in years, people. I was giving a chance to Bethesda for repair this crap game. All what they made is giving the console commands in the game options menu for change the FPS and BLACK BARS. Amazing job :D. Shinji can make the games he want. I will not buy anymore games from Tango.
I am noly happy to finished the game and got all the archievements

Under options/hardware settings you can turn letterboxing off.

and I still have horrendous Screen Tearing with V Sync 60 enabled..have tried every setting in my Nvidia control panel eg. vSync, Double/Triple Buffered/Adaptive etc.
All still have horrendous screen tear. Unplayable on any of the settings. probably need to add a 60 FPS not vsync option so we can use our card options. Unplayable 0/10 would not buy again

From that patch list, isn't all this a bit pointless? From what I can gather, the issue most people had with this game was:

A) Horrible performance
B) Random crashes

This doesn't seem to fix them. Most the things they did fix were already done by Flawless Widescreen over a week ago.

What a shame.

Maybe they looked at the forums and saw 4000 posts about the frame cap and aspect ratio that the 2 or 3 about actual issues may have been missed.

They fixed one of the two biggest complaints. The bars are gone but the performance is still terrible regardless of hardware power lol Come on...

i actually stopped playing right before the end of chapter 1. i figured they would update it to this. i like the way it looks on my pc now. i just ran into a random crash after walking into a wire trap the little albino boy told me would hurt.

So, based upon the comments thus far, it sounds like they simply just added menu items for the previously available console commands. The black bar removal isn't the one that FW uses, but simply changes the FOV. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Why is this a bad thing? Of course you'll have better FPS in letterboxed mode. The game is only rendering 1/2 of your screen.

Same here. I'm guessing you have a 16:10 monitor, rather than 16:9.
