Stuck in hospital with no way back out (chapter 4) Bug

Seems like this is a bug. I just completed chapter 3 and once I started with chapter 4 I found the room where you enter the portal to upgrade.

Upon entering, I went to the desk to save and the icon had a red slash across it (meaning I was not able to save). Anyway, I then spent what points I had upgrading and exited the chair.

Normally there is a mirror just outside the upgrade room and one at the end of the hallway that can be used to return to the game.

Seems the both these mirrors are not active and I can't return to chapter 4. I'm stuck in the hospital with no way out, can't save progress.

It seems the this may be related to the fact that I found the portal while in the process of trying to get closer to the womans screams that my npc ally, the Dr. keeps telling me I need to hurry up.

I don't think that I have deviated from the story one bit (regardless, that should not lock me in the hospital permantly). This is the first bug I have found with the save system in this game (requiring you to teleport to a seperate location to save and upgrade) So far in this chapter I have: SPOILER ALERT!!!!

1. Found the Drs. friend who had turned into a zombie and was in a building near the gate where I entered and killed him (he was the one chanting some twisted poem about cutting everthing out.... (can't recall exactly, but if you have been there, you know what I am refferring to). The body that he was messing with had a key inside, which I removed, but had not used before entering this save/upgrade shack/mirror.

2. I only found 1 other zombie (to the left of the gate where I entered the chapter on top of a set of stairs (when I got close, he started moving down the steps where I did a stealth kill.

That's all I have done and like I said, I'm stuck in the hospial now, Guess I have to quit and restart from last save (not far, it saved at the start of the chapter).

Nevertheless, this is clearly a bug that the developer needs to be aware of and resolve ASAP. I am gonna leave the game as is for a bit, see if anyonw else has had this happen and maybe has an explination or way out without repleating the chapter up to this point. .

If I can't get out, I will restart the chapter and bee line it to this shack where the mirror is and see of I can replicate this bug. I'll update when I find out more, but you all should be aware of this and try to avoid upgrading until you get to the building where the screams are coming from at least (not sure how much needs to be done in the chapter to be eligible to enter the upgrade hospital and get out safely (while a saving as well, hopefully)

I haven't experienced any of the performace issues being reported (crashes in various situations/locations), guess I'm lucky (just using a gtx 660SC, with the specs grapics maxed out). The game has been very good to me up to this point and I am prettty confused as to how this could happen as in most cases a bug like this would have been found pretty quick in testing, which I guess may have been rushed a bit to get it on the market and start earning.

Clearly there needs to be an update judging by the other issues reporte here as well as the one I am stuck in ATM. Hope that they can get this stuff patched as this could be a game breaking bug, but I will not know how much so until I return and restart the chapter then try to use the portal, hopefully it's not bugged throughout the chapter, if so, this is a major issue that will be tough for people to have to play all the way through the chapter with no saves (chapter three was a ♥♥♥♥♥, I had to restart my progress a half dozen times because of the limitations regarding saves with the system in place. Seems to be screwed up as there are checkpoints in each chapter where it autosaves, which makes it even more confusing why it's so compicated and time consuming to make a manual save. I think that they have an interesting idea here with the saves, but it's clearly going to be a problem throughout the game judging by my situation explained here because if we can only save when specific criteria are met (but unknown to the player), it's gonna result in a lot of replaying the same areas over and over at each death (which seems to be pretty easy to occur when a boss is encountered).


In the end, on chapter 3, I ended up doing all the exploring to get every pickup, then going to the save shack and once saved, opening up the wall where that chainsaw zombie was. This took about 4 repeats to finally commit to (something that I was trying to avoid in chapter 4, but it backfired.).

While you were in the asylum, was it black and white? There is still one thing you must do before you can save at the desk within the asylum, before you can leave,

hey manm let me see if i can help i was playing the demo and had the same prob when i whent to the hospital in chp 3 aand i couldnt get out the pprob is that you actually have to go behind the nurses desk and open the door back there and it will lead you into a new room and she will talk to you and it continues but after she explains some stuff and gives you something you can walk back out and save and leave

It's not a bug. Go back into the hallway where all of the cells are. In your old room, you'll find map piece #6. While you walk in the hallway, you should here someone talking and the nurse should be looking into the mirror at the very end. She'll say something along the lines of "so many new admissions but not a single discharge." Then a door will open behind you and you'll encounter some dude freaking out. Then the black and white effect ends and things return to normal.
